Join us June 26-28th for our 32nd annual conference, "Living in the Biotech Century: The First 25 Years," on our campus in Bannockburn/Deerfield, IL. We are 25 years into the Biotech Century. Have the predictions, opportunities, and threats that many in the late 1990s wrote about come to pass? From eliminating disease to the development of new technologies and moving toward the Singularity, how have the predictions made in the 1990s fared? Which opportunities and threats have been realized? What unforeseen issues have arisen? How does the knowledge we have now inform how we view the predictions that were made then? And, perhaps most importantly, how can human beings flourish over the rest of the Biotech Century? We will assess the fruits of the Biotech Century and delve into the pressing issues before us from a Judeo-Christian, Hippocratic point of view. https://lnkd.in/gAzGhHSp

Setting the Competitive Compass on the Nordic Life Science Region 🧭✨ Today, Sweden conducted their National Life Science Hybrid Conference: “Tillsammans för en ledande life science-nation” (“Together for a Leading Life Science Nation”), organized by Regeringskansliet and Region Skåne, bringing together approximately 800 participants. A key objective of Sweden’s Life Science Strategy is to position the Nordic region as a globally leading life science hub. Strengthened Nordic collaboration will be crucial for boosting international competitiveness and positioning the region as a unified force within European life science. 💡 Medicon Valley Alliance was honored to contribute to this important discussion. 🔹 “It is time to restart Europe’s innovation engine. We have the compass. We have the political will. Now, what matters is speed and unity—because the world is not waiting for us. The Competitiveness Compass will be the new Commission’s North Star” – Ursula von der Leyen At Medicon Valley Alliance, we are committed to fostering Danish-Swedish and Nordic collaboration in life science. For 28 years, this has been our North Star, and it will continue to guide us. 👏 A big thank you to Region Skåne and Regeringskansliet’s Life Science Office for an insightful conference and valuable discussions—all with the shared vision of making Sweden a leading life science nation!

We have now officially kicked off the EU consortium project KeratOPrinter! The consortium partners already engaged in some very close collaboration during our first meeting... 👁️ We have an ambitious aim: to 3D bioprint a full-thickness cornea with all three cell layers while replicating its intricate microstructure, and to enable clinical and commercial translation of the final product! And we have 5 years to achieve our goals. The consortium consists of Heli Skottman's group of Tampere University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology StemSight - Vision Unlimited AM Technologies by Brinter Robert Luxenhofer's group of University of Helsinki Vanessa LaPointe and Mor Dickman at MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine and Regenerative Medicine Utrecht Crowdhelix ASPHALION Cellbox Solutions and Björn Bachmann's team at Uniklinik Köln

This conversation is so necessary in the cannabis space, and I couldn't ask for a more qualified group of folks to discuss this with! What is the difference between remediation and decontamination/microbial control steps? When should they be used, and what are potential consequences? Should treated products be labeled and why/why not? How can proactive consumer safety measures be implemented to ensure these technologies are used in a way that does not violate USP, FDA, WHO, and EMA recommendations? All great questions that I'm looking forward to discussing with this panel at MJBizCon!
Fall is flying by and MJBizCon is now less than two weeks away. I’m looking forward to discussing microbial contamination with Tess Eidem, PhD, PCQI, Jean E. Smith-Gonnell, and Willie McKinney Ph.D., DABT at the Science Symposium, reconnecting with colleagues, and talking with clients at the McKinney Regulatory Science Advisors booth (7023) throughout the week.
