A recent study identified loss-of-function variants in cell death-inducing DFFA like effector B (CIDEB) which provide a protective effect for risk of #liverdisease. How to obtain cell lines? Most cultured meat manufacturers use well-characterized cell lines that have the ability to proliferate over time. Some producers may use primary cells, which by definition have a limited lifespan. Currently, access to continuous cell lines from species used for cultured meat production remains a major obstacle to new research efforts. The creation of new cell lines requires both time and resources, typically taking 6-18 months to obtain and fully characterize a single cell line.
