What better way to commemorate #InternationalWomensDay than to spotlight our own founder’s trailblazing example as a female leader?
Judith M. von Seldeneck strongly believes that in order for women to be encouraged to thrive, they need to be able to see other women reach leadership positions and think, “that could be me”. In the words of Marie Wilson, who founded the White House Project, “You can’t be what you can't see”. As so, Judee became the only female leader in the search industry when she founded Diversified Search Group fifty years ago with the objective of getting more women in leadership positions.
Judee's philosophy, “you lead by example”, is what led her to create the top woman-founded and women-led executive search firm in the country. Our Founder, Chair and our CEO are women. More than 50% of DSG’s executive placements have been women, while the national average of women in executive positions is below 31% (McKinsey).
Additionally, Judee funded the JVS Philadelphia Fund for Women to assist women-led enterprises to mature and grow by providing a source of capital, leveraging the experience of established women leaders to provide consulting and advisory services, and connecting women CEOs to resources to accelerate their growth.
Thank you, Judee, for forging the path for women to become leaders not only with your own example, but also by creating these change-driving organizations that create outstanding opportunities for women well beyond national standards. We celebrate your ongoing support for female advocacy along with all other women who strive every day to become leaders and create a more equitable world.
Happy International Women’s Day!
