BIOREMIA ETN: A Best-Practice Example of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Project at a Non-University Research Institution in Saxony 🏆 🔹 Congratulations to the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden), and especially to the 15 young scientists that worked at institutions in 10 different European countries, on the successful completion of the BIOREMIA project. 👏 🇪🇺 🔹Participants: ◾ Yannick Fortouna (University of Ioannina) 🇬🇷 ◾ Ludovico A. Alberta, Ph.D. (IFW Dresden) 🇩🇪 ◾ Aleksandra Bartkowska (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) 🇪🇸 ◾ Fei-Fan Cai (Montanuniversität Leoben) 🇦🇹 ◾ Miguel de Brito Costa (University of Cambridge) 🇬🇧 ◾ Tim Kreuz (University of Cambridge) 🇬🇧 ◾ Kirti Tiwari (Università degli Studi di Torino) 🇮🇹 ◾ John Michael Ahmed Escobar Hernandez (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) 🇪🇸 ◾ Adnan Akman (IFW Dresden) 🇩🇪 ◾ David Zermeño Pérez (Ashland Specialties Ireland Ltd.) 🇮🇪 ◾ Adam Turner (Göteborgs universitet) 🇸🇪 ◾ Paula Milena Giraldo Osorno (Göteborgs universitet) 🇸🇪 ◾ Juan José Londoño Rueda (PX SERVICES) 🇨🇭 ◾ Yohan DOUEST (ANTHOGYR) 🇫🇷 ◾ Sebastião Maria Mollet Morais de Barros (Stryker Trauma) 🇩🇪   🔹 The project aimed to develop materials that enhance the biological acceptance of implants in the body by improving their antibacterial properties. The Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) conducted individual projects focused on designing, synthesizing, characterizing, and testing biofilm-resistant materials and coatings for bone-related implant applications. 🔬 🔹 Launched as a four-year project under the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions funding line, BIOREMIA has been a resounding success. It provided excellent research conditions for the ESRs and contributed significantly to advancing this dynamic field. A total of 11 beneficiaries and 6 partner organizations from academia and industry contributed to BIOREMIA's success. The consortium was led by the IFW Dresden, with Professor Mariana Calin serving as the project coordinator. 🎉   🔹 BIOREMIA received external funding from the European Research Executive Agency (REA). 🔹 Tap the link to read the full IFW press release 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eFdcaxgu #MarieSkłodowskaCurieActions #MSCActions #Horizon2020 #ETN #BIOREMIA #Biomaterials #Implants #Research #MaterialScience #Dissemination #PhDLife #ZEUSS
