According to our 2024 study, "The High Cost of Chronic Disease," 33% of Americans faced significant challenges in getting a diagnosis for their disease. Those with chronic gastrointestinal diseases had the greatest difficulty in getting a formal diagnosis. This highlights a critical need for improved diagnostics early in an illness, when interventions can do the most good. This insight and many others will be explored in greater detail at our event on July 10, Chronic Disease Day. Visit https://lnkd.in/gkRwxmKv #ChronicDisease #Healthcare #DiagnosisChallenges

Procalcitonin levels greatly increase in bacterial infections and is a sensitive marker of sepsis. Procalcitonin production parallels the severity of disease, therefore higher levels will be seen when the disease is more severe. Levels that are decreasing compare closely with effective treatment. Procalcitonin can aid in the early diagnosis of sepsis, allowing for immediate administration of therapy. Learn more about the testing with Medical Database. https://lnkd.in/dDC7GRjR #medicaldatabase

The administration of #methylprednisolone pulses in patients with systemic #lupus erythematosus during the first year of the disease course is associated with a higher frequency of prolonged remission, particularly in those with moderate and severe activity (SLEDAI-2K score ≥6). In addition, the use of methylprednisolone pulses also results in reduced doses of #prednisone in these patients. 🔗https://lnkd.in/dRzV2dWz

🔬 Objective diagnosis is the only way to properly treat periodontal disease. The HR5 test is your objective evidence of disease. Bacteria that cause gum disease are not visible to the naked eye. This means that if you’re determining your patient’s health or risk level based solely on what you can see, you aren’t getting the whole story. Science-based, data-driven evidence is how we progress, and healthcare is no different. The HR5 test offers the necessary clarity to confidently diagnose and treat your patients. By detecting all known strains of the five high-risk pathogens, the HR5 test ensures you have the complete picture, allowing for precise and personalized treatment plans. At Direct Diagnostics, our vision is for diagnostic facts to drive the standard of care in oral health treatment decisions. Preventive screening and risk assessment are essential to early intervention and stopping severe infections in their tracks. Start testing today to join us in using objective evidence to treat your patients. 🌟🦷 #SalivaryDiagnostics #ComprehensiveCare #PatientCare #HR5Test

Understanding and Managing Interstitial Lung Disease 🫁 😮💨 This blog discusses Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), which is a progressive disease characterised by worsening fibrosis and increasingly severe respiratory symptoms. Sufferers may also experience a sudden worsening of ILD symptoms termed exacerbations. ILD exacerbations are associated with declines in lung function, high rates of hospitalisation and mortality. Often the exact cause of ILD exacerbations is unknown however some potential causative factors may include viral infections, air pollution, drug toxicity, procedures such as bronchoscopy or VATS, and microaspiration...
