Women tend to die from their medical symptoms because men simply do not care!! Women experiencing pain are more often than not dismissed and left feeling that something is wrong with them. If it’s one of you, I sympathize with you. Women are made to wait 65 minutes for a painkiller for abdominal pain. And. men are made to wait 49 minutes for a painkiller for that same pain. Women could be having different symptoms for the same problem than men altogether. But it’s often overlooked. Hence, many problems either get a misdiagnosis or an underdiagnosis. Such painful experiences make women fearful of seeking complete medical access throughout their lives. We as a system need to do better in advocating for such discrepancies. As recently as 2021, evidence continues to suggest that doctors still fail to take pain reported by females seriously. Doctors often prescribe therapy instead of the pain medication they often prescribe to males. Doctors are also far less likely to recommend timely treatment for heart disease and heart attacks in women. The consequences? 1. Knowledge Gaps: Limited inclusivity in research means doctors know less about female health. 2. Lack of Women in Leadership: Many view men as better leaders, leading to fewer women in top medical roles. 3. Delayed Diagnoses: Women often wait longer for diagnoses. A Danish study found 72% of women experienced longer wait times than men. 4. Inadequate Symptom Management: Doctors who dismiss women's pain may not provide proper pain relief. 5. Avoidance of Medical Care: Only 47% of nonpregnant women who mistrusted public health agencies planned to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Gender bias can either be conscious or unconscious. Consider this a call to action to foster an equitable healthcare! #Medicalscience #PatientSaftey #MobileHealth #Digiphin #ENTsurgeons

Are we finally seeing the end of women's pain being sidelined in healthcare? It seems so." An NPR article discusses the pivotal changes in how the medical community handles women's pain, especially during reproductive procedures. With new guidelines from the American Society of Anesthesiologists and an increased focus on patient-centered pain management, the field is moving towards a more empathetic and effective approach. Analysis: This evolution in pain management could transform women's health care, fostering environments where women feel heard and cared for. These changes are not just procedural but are about validating and addressing women's experiences in healthcare settings, potentially leading to transformative impacts on women's overall health and well-being. https://buff.ly/3Wh55rl #pain #womenshealth #dt #darshantalks
