BIOTECanada welcomes the government’s commitment and investment through the Immunization Partnership Fund to improve vaccine confidence and uptake nationally. This is an important and timely measure to improve health protection for all Canadians. Vaccines remain one of the most cost-effective preventative healthcare tools to defend against both known and emerging health challenges. Despite their proven efficacy and value, vaccine confidence in Canada has waned over recent years and as a result preventable viruses such as measles, once declared eradicated in Canada, are now having a resurgence. Given this resurgence and the threat of new viruses, the government’s investment to elevate vaccine awareness and confidence is both timely and critical for public health. Improved vaccine awareness and confidence is essential to protecting Canadians and reducing the burden on our healthcare system. This initiative supports the collective effort to ensure that vaccines continue to play a central role in safeguarding the health and well-being of all Canadians.
The #GoC is investing more than $7.6 million in the Immunization Partnership Fund. This investment will support 31 community-based organizations working to help people in Canada have access to vaccines as well as accurate information on the safety and effectiveness of vaccines so that they can make informed vaccination choices.
