✨ The recommendations from the national Danish Life Science Council is really going our way. ✨   - Better access to capital for early start ups as well as companies looking for VC's In 2023 337 million DKK (+45 mill €) was invested in Odense's life science and biotech companies, but there is still an increadable need for investments.   And as we work for in Life Science Fyn the recommendations suggest: - Stronger setup for collaboration between science institutions, health sector and companies, including establishing of more laboratories for companies and help on business development.   -      Strengthened incentives and financial framework for innovation at universities and hospitals. The report actually sais “there is a need for a paradigm shift at the universities and the hospitals, so that innovation and translation become at least at prestigious and supported in the same degree as publication of research articles”. The #STATinNYC event last night offered a fascinating preview into the biotech landscape of 2024. A couple of key takeaways stood out to me, particularly from my professional development perspective. These include insights from: Dr. Andrea Califano, President at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York, gave an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the development of #czbiohubny. The focus was on assembling a multidisciplinary 'dream team' that will bring together deep knowledge and diverse expertise. Very exciting times for STEM talent in NYC. This is a brilliant example of harnessing diverse expertise to foster innovation. Dr. Behzad Aghazadeh, Managing Partner at Avoro Capital, emphasized the critical need for trained leaders in the management teams of both emerging and established biotech firms. Attracting investors requires demonstrating that your team possesses the skills to collaborate, succeed, and fail together effectively. This factor is critical in the biotech industry and to your potential investors. A personal conclusion: Yet another reminder that the cornerstone of success is the people. Investing in professional development and training for STEM is not just beneficial; it's essential for achieving success and impact.
