🎉 Exciting News from the World Orphan Drug Conference (WODC) in Boston last week! 🎉 Last week, EVERSANA was privileged to participate in the World Orphan Drug Congress USA in Boston, an event that brings together global leaders and innovators dedicated to advancing therapies for rare diseases. The conference underscored the critical role of data analytics in unlocking groundbreaking insights that can significantly impact patients. Thank you to Pierantonio Russo MD, FCPP, FAAP, STS Eversana's Chief Corporate Medical Officer, and Ramaa Nathan Director of Data Science, for their outstanding contributions. They presented cutting-edge research on the use of machine learning to significantly improve the time to diagnosis for patients with a probable diagnosis of MPS II. Their work exemplifies the dedication to breakthroughs in patient care at EVERSANA, EVERSANA INTOUCH. JUMP-CP dataset is a very useful resource when searching for new treatments for rare diseases. In #phenotypic screening we don't care much about the mechanisms, but rather look for compounds that elicit the most similar phenotype to the disease condition. In this plot we calculated the distances between phenotypes of cells treated with compounds to phenotypes of TRPV4 knock-down cells, meaning we are looking for antagonists 💊 of TRPV4 receptor. The plot below is basically a 1D plot of distances with some jitter applied in the Y axis for easier visualization. What I really like about this plot is: * Negative controls (orange points) are very densely concentrated. This means that a) we did a damn good job at batch effect correction of imaging datasets from multiple different laboratories/microscopes, and b) we can determine clear borders of what are hits and what not. * There are not too many hits, and many of these stand out quite a lot from the negative controls. Several hits are known drugs, which also shows a great potential for drug repurposing. All the details will be published in the case study, which we will release ahead of #SLAS 2024 in Boston (5-7 Feb).
