Natural light is so vital for both our mental and physical health that it’s magically instant the way our bodies respond to sunlight. Improving our mental health part 2/10 ☀️When light reaches the cells at the back of our eyes,it send messages all over our bodies to regulate sleep, our mood, body temperature, blood pressure, hormones, our immune system and other bodily functions. The amount of light you get is crucial to maintaining a normal circadian rhythm (the natural cycle of physical, mental and behavior change that your body undergoes through a 24 hour cycle) This will also inform you how tired you are. Disruption of the circadian rhythm due to lack of sunlight and prolonged exposures of artificial light sources is associated with poor sleep, depression and anxiety as well as physical illnesses. The physical light we use indoors isn’t the same as natural sunlight. Even on a gloomy day,it is still important to be outside to get natural light. The more exposure you have to sunlight earlier in the day,the better your melatonin production at night (which helps you fall asleep faster and better). Not to mention the instant serotonin boost that elevates your mood and helps you feel calmer/less anxious. Have regular waking times and draw your curtains immediately, aim to get exercise outside even if it’s a walk. Find ways to be outside early in the day, even if you work from home, don’t spend the entire day indoors. #mentalhealthawareness #sunlight #mentalhealthmonth #moodbooster #nature #outside #mentalhealth #feelingbetter #sun

🌲 ☀️ ☁️ Getting outside for fresh air, sunshine, and exposure to nature plays a crucial role in enhancing mental health and managing chronic pain. Fresh air and natural light can elevate mood, increase energy levels, and boost the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter linked to feelings of well-being and happiness. 🚶♀️ 🏊🏻♀️ 🚴 Additionally, spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, promoting a sense of calm and relaxation. For individuals with chronic pain, outdoor activities can provide gentle physical exercise, which helps in improving mobility and reducing pain perception. ⛰️ 🏖️ Moreover, the natural environment offers a distraction from pain, facilitating a more positive focus and reducing the psychological burden associated with chronic conditions. 🌄😴🛏️ Morning sunlight, in particular, is vital as it helps regulate our circadian rhythm by signaling our brain to wake up and start the day, which in turn aids in improving sleep quality. Exposure to natural light in the morning helps reset our internal clock, making it easier to fall asleep and wake up at consistent times, thereby enhancing overall sleep health. . . . #MentalHealth #ChronicPain #NatureTherapy #FreshAir #SunshineBenefits #OutdoorWellness #CircadianRhythm #BetterSleep #MorningSunlight #NaturalHealing
