Effective, comfortable hearing protection is key Today the BBC highlighted the importance of using hearing protection when in a noisy environment, with Military personnel now suffering from noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus claiming compensation. Often exposed to intense noise levels that can permenantly damage their hearing - as Nicholas Hill, acoustics engineer comments - “every firearm ever made, if you fire it with unprotected ears, just once, can damage your hearing”, ensuring all personnel are supplied with comfortable hearing protection is key to prevention. The emphasis here is on comfortable. Standard, one-size fits all earplugs are often uncomfortable and so the user tends to remove them, find them distracting and as a result they are not worn for a long period, rendering them ineffective and the user suseptible to damage. A custom fit earplug offers the exact opposite - a perfect fit. They can be worn all day without irritaton or distraction, ensuring the user’s ears are protected 100% of the time. Let's advocate for and implement robust, comfortable hearing protection strategies, ensuring that those who serve are protected both now and in the future #HearingHealth #MilitarySafety #CustomFitEarplugs #HearingProtection #NoiseInducedHearingLoss #VeteranCare #SafetyFirst #comfortable #comfortiskey https://lnkd.in/eQHDTHEg

The recent MOD hearing loss case has highlighted the importance of protecting hearing in the workplace. The MOD has acknowledged that thousands of their personnel have suffered from hearing loss due to inadequate ear protection during training exercises and operations. This is a harsh reminder that our hearing is a vital sense that can be damaged by prolonged exposure to loud noises and there is no cure. Excessive and prolonged exposure can lead to permanent hearing loss, tinnitus, cardio issues and even depression. It is crucial that individuals working in noisy environments take necessary precautions such as wearing earplugs. Employers must ensure they provide adequate ear protection and training to employees. It is also a requirement where exposure is at or above the Upper Action Level of 85 dB(A) regular hearing checks must be conducted to detect any potential hearing damage early. We can reduce the risk of preventable hearing loss and ensure a safer and healthier work environment by protecting our employees hearing. #Minerva #HealthAndSafety #EarProtection #hearingprotection #hearingloss #hearinghealth #hearinglossawareness #hearingimpaired https://lnkd.in/eQHDTHEg
