Writer/Producer/Creator of American Mood Swings- Docustyle/News show focused on mental health and wellness
There are pros/cons to Prop 1- NAMI (Largest grassroots mental health organization in the US) supports it, Disability Rights California(the largest disability advocacy group in the US) hates everything about it and says it s misguided, redirects money from the effective mental health services act to courts, lawyers, and places to involuntary commit people.... important to view the facts and implications. The Mental Health Services act passed a few years ago taxes people making over $1,000,000 year for a fund that generates over $5 billion/year for mental health services. Money can now be "redirected" away to pay for all the new CARE Courts, judges, lawyers, conservatorship, etc. DRC believes this will eventually lead to the mass incarceration of people who really need mental health services vs. being locked up. SB 43 expands the definition of "grave disability" to include substance use disorder , but the state has no treatment centers for these folks to be sent to... Very interesting and informative- #mental health #Prop 1 #policy #CARES courts #SB 43 #American Mood Swings #NAMI #Disability Rights CA #American Mood Swings #Podcast #Docuseries #News #Vote
