Did you know? Anxiety can manifest as irritability, even in Black women. Let's break the silence and raise awareness about mental health in our community. 💚 1. Listen Actively: When a Black woman shares her feelings or experiences, listen attentively without judgment. Sometimes, just being heard can make a significant difference. 2. Educate Yourself: Learn about the unique challenges Black women face regarding mental health. Understand the impact of systemic racism, historical trauma, and stereotypes. Educate yourself to be a better ally. 3. Avoid Stereotypes: Refrain from making assumptions based on stereotypes. Black women often encounter harmful stereotypes that can affect their mental well-being. Be mindful of your language and avoid perpetuating harmful narratives. 4. Normalize Seeking Help: Encourage open conversations about mental health. Normalize seeking therapy or counselling. Let Black women know that it’s okay to seek professional support when needed. 5. Promote Self-Care: Encourage Black women to prioritize self-care. Remind them that it’s essential to take breaks, practice mindfulness, and engage in activities that bring joy and relaxation. Let’s continue raising awareness and supporting each other! #VelmaCarterCenter #MentalHealthAwareness #VelmaCarter #BlackWomen #Anxiety #MentalHealth

As we bid farewell to Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to share a personal reflection, especially for women out there. In a world where expectations and judgments tend to weigh heavily on us, it's vital to remember that not everyone will like nor appreciate you and the truth is, it's perfectly okay. Navigating negativity isn't just about rising above it; it's about understanding where it comes from and realizing that it doesn't define your worth in anyway. You are one of a kind, your value isn't diminished by someone else's opinion of you. Let's prioritize our mental well-being, cherishing ourselves and the people that matter to us. Embrace your worth and carry this empowering awareness forward every single day. #MentalHealthAwareness #SelfWorth #EmpowerWomen #SupportSystem #ChimamandaAdichie #14dayscontentcreationchallengewithsarahwealth #day11 Video credit: Female Poets Society
