Below an example of apparent "critique" of Bitcoin - it is not anonymous enough! Well, the most important word in this citation is "exchanges" If one does not use exchanges, the promised pseudonymity of pure Bitcoin transactions can be achieved. But more importantly, the real innovations of Bitcoin are not this pseudonymity, but: 1) permissionless transactions: two parties can transact no matter what any government or group of people think or do 2) decentralization - there is no center or entity that can be attacked or corrupted 3) fixed supply - there will be only 21*10^6 Bitcoins no matter what So used properly Bitcoin allows for a pretty private permissionless economic activity and (after the phase of initial distribution with inherent volatility) can be finally used for savings protected from inflation and blanket confiscations.
“Despite all its hype as an anonymous form of currency, in practice Bitcoin was very trackable. Following its creation in 2009, law enforcement agencies and private companies got more savvy at tracing the digital cash. In many cases it was trivial to follow a Bitcoin transaction from one wallet to another. Law enforcement, with their court orders and legal powers, then compelled Bitcoin exchanges to reveal who was behind a certain account. Bitcoin’s promised cloaks of anonymity were more like a flimsy shower curtain, the subject’s silhouette visible through it.” - Dark Wire. Joseph Cox -

⚖️ XRP Holders Are in for a Long Ride (Unless Congress Steps In) ⚖️ The legal battle between the SEC and Ripple could drag on for 1.5 to 3+ years, with XRP holders facing a long wait. However, there’s hope on the horizon—new crypto laws from Congress could make all of this go away, and hopefully, that will be the most likely scenario. Here’s the current appellate timeline: 1️⃣ SEC Brief due around January 2025 (after likely extension). 2️⃣ Ripple Cross Appeal expected around the same time. 3️⃣ Opposition Briefs due around March 2025. 4️⃣ Reply Briefs due by the end of March 2025. 5️⃣ Oral Arguments likely scheduled for September - October 2025. 6️⃣ Final Ruling from the 2nd Circuit could come as late as March or April 2026. If it reaches the Supreme Court, it could extend another 1.5 to 2 years. 😬 But with the possibility of new Congressional laws, we might see a resolution much sooner. Let’s hope the lawmakers speed up this process! 💼 #XRP #Ripple #SEC #Crypto #Blockchain #CryptoRegulation #Congress #CryptoNews
