‼️BIG NEWS: New 1099 Rule Starts March 11th! ‼️ Get ready for changes! The US Department of Labor is updating how independent workers are classified! This rule replaces the previous five-factor test, ushered in during the Trump administration in 2021, with a more comprehensive approach. The new rule introduces SIX key factors to assess the economic realities of the working relationship, ensuring fairness and clarity: 1. Opportunity for profit or loss 2. Investments by the worker and potential employer 3. Degree of permanence in the work relationship 4. Nature and degree of control 5. Work performed as an integral part of the employer's business 6. Worker's skill and initiative *While this change represents a significant shift, legal challenges from various businesses are underway. Keep an eye out for updates as this unfolds. Serving financial institutions with authentic solutions. | Thought Leader | Industry Contributor | Speaker | Most importantly a proud father of daughters.
This hasn't made a lot of news, but it would impact many people on Linkedin, so I thought I would share. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently held an open meeting to discuss a significant proposal that could impact many of us in the workforce. This proposal aims to ban non-compete clauses restricting employees from joining competitors after leaving a company. With the discussion phase complete, the FTC is expected to vote on this proposal next Tuesday. This rule change could reshape our professional landscape by enhancing career mobility and wage growth. Some corporate lobbyists plan to sue, so I am not sure how that will impact everything, but it is worth keeping an eye on it for both corporate leaders and employees. For more details on what’s at stake and the implications of this potential rule change, check out the full article: https://lnkd.in/eB8yJXyj #FTC #NonCompete #ProfessionalDevelopment #LaborLaw
