Yesterday in St. Charles County CAPS we learned about the 5 Ways to be a Great Intern in preparation for our upcoming internships this semester! The way we learned this was through 5 names; Clarence for Communication, David for Double Checking your Work, Gary for Going the Extra Mile, Frank for Following Directions, and Sam for Staying Professional. Communication is about communicating whenever you have too much of a workload, or bringing up whenever you have an issue. Double Checking your Work, while sounding self explanatory, could also mean talking with your supervisor whenever you’re assigned a project and making sure that you understand what you’re expectated to do. Going the Extra Mile is about always giving 110% to make sure you stand out and showing that you’re a valuable worker. Following Directions is also a more simple concept, however, that doesn’t make it any less important. If you don’t follow directions, you’re not only wasting your own time, but others’ time as well. Staying Professional is all about making sure you dress correctly and act appropriately at work. You aren’t out with friends, you’re there to do a job, so you need to make sure that you act accordingly. I will be sure to use these tips when I begin my internship at Stauder Technologies in the coming weeks and I’m eager to get started!
