An incredible start to MBA 30 Cohort Six. With standing room only, the packed class bristled with energy and anticipation as the entrepreneurs scrolled through the first day’s agenda, detailing SOAS University of London’s lecturers and that day’s industry guests. Hubbub and excitement, gave way to silence as Black British Initiative's CEO & Founder Darren Miller introduced the first contributor, Lord Dr Michael Hastings CBE. He didn’t disappoint, with his words about the societal value of entrepreneurship, inspiring the cohort. Now fully engaged, next, Tom Athron, CEO of Fortnum and Mason, a department store renowned for stocking the world’s highest quality foods and drinks, explained why his customer centric brand, continues to ascend whilst others experience decline. Ending with a crescendo, Emmanuel Eribo co-founder and CEO of Vegan footwear brand LØCI, provided insight into the gritty reality of being a dynamic, tenacious and driven business founder, including a rare insight into the ‘secret sauce’ responsible for his success. The future of entrepreneurialism is not about technology. It's about the ability to innovate sometimes and chaos in crisis, in uncertainty. And so today was the first day of MBA 30, and it was fantastic to meet the cohort. So everybody that's taking part in today's in the program over the next 4 weeks. I think in our generation, it's very easy to just go with the flow, go with the passion and the idea. But I think it's really important that we understand the acumen, the foundational principles that it takes to build business, especially if you want to scale. Great, really great speakers, great variety and lots of different messaging. Really quite exciting. We've tried different speakers here. I've been inspired, I've been educated, I have learned so much and I'm in a place now where I'm excited for the rest of the course. The contributors were incredible. The one that personally touched me the most was Immanuel Eribo. He lit a fire under me and he taught me the important lesson of there not being a formula and just going at it with a, with a sense of fire. The reason that I'm interested in DNI is because I can prove to you. Empirically, that the most engaged and happy teams in our business, and we know this through our surveys, are the ones that are most diverse. OK.
