Today, we wish everyone a Happy and Safe Halloween! While our communities fill with families and youth trick-or-treating or participating in other festivities, here are some important safety tips to keep in mind: 🦇 Watch out for those Trick-or-Treating: Drive slowly through residential areas, paying special attention to crosswalks and driveways. 🎃 Decorate carefully: Ensure the jack-o-lanterns on your porch are lit with flameless, battery powered lights rather than candles, and that your decor does not pose any slipping, tripping or catching hazards. 🍬 Be cautious with candy: Always examine the treats and toys that are brought home before giving them to your children. #HalloweenSafety #HappyHalloween

🎃 Happy Halloween 🎃 Halloween is a fun and spooky time, but let’s make sure the frights stay on the fun side! As the nights grow darker and the pumpkins are lit, here are some quick tips to help you avoid fire hazards: 1. Use LED Candles for Pumpkins: LED candles are a great alternative to open flames. They keep your pumpkins glowing without the risk of overheating or burning, letting you enjoy the fun safely. 2. Decorate house parties safely: When decorating for Halloween, be mindful of where you hang items. Keep decorations away from candles, fireplaces, or any open flames to prevent accidental fires. 3. Test your smoke alarm: Before hosting a Halloween party, take a moment to test your smoke alarms. It’s an easy way to increase safety and have some peace of mind while you celebrate. 4. Educate the little ones: Costumes are exciting but can be a hazard near flames. Make sure kids know the "Stop, Drop, and Roll" technique, so they know what to do if their costume catches fire. By taking these simple precautions, you can enjoy Halloween festivities while keeping everyone safe. Stay spooky, and have a hauntingly good time! 👻 #firesafety #safetyfirst #avoidhazards #CentralFS #hazardfree #Halloweenfiresafety

🎃Happy Condoween! Some Condo Communities permit trick-or-treating door-to-door, and some have alternative events of nothing at all. Here are some best practices to consider while preparing for this spooky celebration! Condos Permitting Trick-or-Treating 1. Communicate!: Share guidelines before Halloween, including quiet hours, safe knocking etiquette, and any building-specific policies. 2. Identify Participating Units: Encourage residents who wish to participate to place a Halloween sign or decoration on their door. This helps trick-or-treaters know where they’re welcome. 3. Elevator and Common Area Safety: Remind residents to keep hallways, stairways, and elevators clear and safe, avoiding decorations that obstruct pathways, create fire hazards, or potentialy damage common elements. 4. Set Safe Hours: Define clear hours for trick-or-treating, such as 6–8 p.m., to respect neighbors’ preferences and building quiet hours. Condos that do NOT Permit Door-to-Door Trick-or-Treating 1. Organize a Lobby or Party Room Event: Host a Halloween costume party or candy giveaway in a common area, making it an organized, communal event. 2. Offer Safe and Inclusive Activities: Consider offering Halloween crafts, a costume contest, or a candy station in the lobby to create a festive environment without door-to-door activity. 3. Communicate Clearly: Send a notice explaining why door-to-door trick-or-treating is not allowed, and outline the alternative options for residents to celebrate. Some more considerations for Property Managers and Condo Boards: Safety and Security Coordinate with security personnel to monitor high-traffic areas, ensuring everyone’s safety. Extra patrols during trick-or-treating hours can prevent issues like overcrowding or unsupervised guests. Allergies and Inclusive Options Encourage residents and event organizers to include allergy-friendly treats or non-candy options to make Halloween enjoyable for all children. Decorations Remind residents about safe decorating practices, particularly avoiding candles and other fire hazards. Noise Halloween festivities can sometimes get loud. Be clear about noise expectations and remind residents of standard quiet hours. Condo communities can tailor and employ these guidelines to help ensure a safe, enjoyable Halloween experience that respects all residents' preferences. #CondoSafety #Condoween #Halloween2024 #MeritusGroup #Halloween #HappyHalloween #CondoLand #Condomanagement
