Tough but fun! My first-year summary as an entrepreneur: 1. Value of Money: A million euros might seem trivial in the corporate world. But as an entrepreneur, every euro is significant. It's a whole new perspective on financial management. 2. Recruitments: the model where every expert is a shareholding partner has attracted top-notch talent and made recruitment easy. ”Skin in the game” works! 3. Our Customers: There's nothing more fulfilling than solving problems and helping others. In just six months, reaching profitability is a great achievement in this market! 4. Our Incredible Team: Collaborating with such talented and dedicated colleagues is a joy. The incentives for every single partner are fully aligned as we all earn from the same purse. 5. The Joy of Networking. I never imagined how rewarding it would be to meet new, fascinating individuals almost daily. A new year for Black Belts has started! Very thought provoking event yesterday. There's clearly a huge market for SMEs to move into (£21 Billion!), so the real challenge is just breaking down the preconceptions and communicating the benefits. This is where thought leadership can be so powerful; you're speaking to prospects who are yet to find out what they are missing, and so they'll be very open to your expertise. The challenge is not selling, but simply finding out which area they will gain the most from 📈 🚀.

HOW COULD SME BUSINESSES BENEFIT FROM GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS? 💪 🚀 Yesterday, Thought Club wrapped up its final event of the year! As part of our mastermind series, our focus was on solving a particular challenge faced by our ‘guinea pig’ business. 💼💬 🔍 This week the expertise was directed at enhancing communication to a targeted market. Alan Brown from Brown Hat Ltd helps to prepare SMEs to attain government contracts. Despite the government’s aim to increase their proportion of spending with SMEs by over 50% (£21 Bn), many companies are not aware of the opportunities available to them. With this in mind, our attendees worked together to contribute their expertise with the aim of solving the problem: 🤔 'How do we make SMEs perceive the public sector market as more accessible?' 💡 The session began with a round of questions to thoroughly dive into the problem, followed by a round of suggestions from the business leaders on the event. If you couldn't make it, here are some key takeaways: 1️⃣ Public sector contracts aren't an exclusive 'boys club', and changing is crucial. Often small companies are actually better placed to fulfil the contracts. 2️⃣ SMEs can benefit significantly from tenders, securing multi-year contracts with a high renewal probability. This adds stability to a company embarking on a growth mission. 3️⃣ Targeting sectors individually can break through blind spots, and tailoring outreach to specific conditions and needs will help cut-through to companies that have not considered the public sector before. This week Lord Blunkett and Business Leader hosted two fascinating discussions with founders/CEOs aimed at unlocking ‘The Barriers to Growth in the UK’ The sessions were all the more special because David has just recovered from a heart attack and it was great to see him looking so well and back to his best form. There were so many key insights to take away and we’ll be putting them together as part of our report, headed up by our Editor-in-Chief, Graham Ruddick One message from Sam Page really stuck with me: the idea that it’s not enough anymore to give someone a job and a salary, you also need to give them a purpose. It’s so true and it’s no surprise that Sam’s purpose-led business 7DOTS is doing so well. Our purpose at Business Leader is clear: to help our founder and CEO members fast-forward their growth, with the eventual aim of doubling the number of large businesses in the UK. To make this possible we need a profound change in the culture of British Business. We need to get founders and CEOs together to share their secrets, their challenges, their failures. And to support each other because when one business succeeds it makes it more likely not less likely that another will do the same.
