New Architect Competency Standards Mirror Architectural Practice - As They Should! . . The new NCARB Competency Standards for architects are organized into 3 Domains: . Design and Documentation Construction Administration Practice and Project Management . Each Domain is weighted by the number of standards they contain, and ultimately how NCARB distributes the required hours of the AXP among the domains and the number of questions in the ARE. . Most importantly is the thinking behind the Domains that they mirror architectural practice. . It should be somewhat relieving to the many critics of NCARB and architecural education — suggesting new design professionals are not prepared for work in architecture firms, that NCARB listened to the thousands of architects providing input in the creation of these standards and mirrored the Domains to the main areas of architectural practice services. . Follow me for more analysis and discussion of NCARB’s new competency standards. . #ncarb #competencystandards #architects #architecturalpractice #architectsaccelerator
