Redlines seek to bring a voice to these stories, those privately endured in a school or workplace but clouded by shame, self-doubt, and questioning of one’s professional choices. With each episode, we will ask a member of our community to share their story anonymously, offer advice and guidance, and discuss ways to move forward. Dr. Akomolafe suggests that architecture acts as a form of psychology, shaping and being shaped by human experience. He introduces the concept of dissociation as a delinking from the world, suggesting that essentializing identities and spaces leads to separation rather than connection. He emphasizes the need for architecture to accommodate fluid and diverse experiences, rather than adhering strictly to predefined structures. Bayo Akomolafe sees his son’s autistic vibrancy as embodying a "third space"—a concept that transcends binary thinking and challenges conventional understandings of space and design.
