Antler received 8k+ applications to our last US Residency. After working with 300+ founders in-person for 2 months, we invested into 32 startups this June. Since our investment, 58% of these companies have secured additional funding. Drop a comment here if you’d like to connect with these startups. A sample of these founder profiles: 🚀 An aerospace engineer who built the world’s first 3D Printed Rocket, Relativity Space’s Terran 1. 🤑 A fintech team who previously built an RIA platform with $60m AUM. 🛰 Former Starlink and Raytheon engineers building edge computing software for space and satellite interoperability. 🧙♂️ Founder of Elo Entertainment (company behind Dotabuff, Overbuff, Speedrun.com) which operated with 7M+ monthly active users who also previously led one of the most successful WoW clans. 🏥 A 3x former healthcare founder who sold a previous company to UnitedHealth for over $500m. 💫 A researcher from Fermilab, Mercury Data Science, and the Smithsonian. Contributed to developing one of the first algorithms for the autonomous operation of particle accelerators.

The scientific method isn't only for scientists. It can help us all learn faster. Study of 759 startups: teaching scientific thinking boosts revenue. Founders become quicker to abandon bad ideas. A key to good judgment is treating plans as hypotheses and choices as experiments.

Suomen startup-yhteisö (Finnish Startup Community) wrote a nice piece about the founding story of Quanscient. Read more about how a software consultant found himself starting a company revolving around multiphysics and quantum computing with people way smarter than him here: https://lnkd.in/gXemhxKQ Kudos to the referred smart people and my brilliant co-founders Alexandre Halbach Asser Lähdemäki and Valtteri Lahtinen!

Global technology strategist and executive | CTO | Product Development | Innovation | Emerging tech | Architecture | Startups | Strategy | Advisory
A young and dazzling talent sets up their new tech business in Silicon Valley - it is foundational tech that will change the world. He attracts some of the most talented individuals to his startup. Unfortunately, his management style drives them away, and they form new companies that end up being the ones that change the world. This is, of course, the story of William Shockley, who won a Nobel Prize for the invention of the transistor, his startup Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory, and the "traitorous eight" who were driven away to start Fairchild Semiconductor, Intel, Teledyne, Intersil, and Kleiner Perkins. In recalling this, I can't help but think of the events of the past year at Sam Altman's OpenAI, and we've seen a bunch of top talent choose to leave rather than stay. Notably Mira Murati (CTO), Bob McGrew (Chief Research Officer), Ilya Sutskever (Chief Scientist), Barret Zoph, Jan Leike, John Schulman (co-founder), and Andrej Karpathy (co-founder) have all departed. Some have joined other companies but some have set out on their own. I wonder if we'll look back and see this as a similarly pivotal point in the history of Silicon Valley and how it seeded a bunch of new companies that changed the world. #siliconvalley #history #forecasting #genAI

Many of the biggest global challenges we face cannot be solved by today’s technology. Nurturing breakthroughs in deep tech and providing a pathway to bring these technologies into the mainstream is vital to tackling these planetary scale challenges head-on. To do this takes collaboration, between start-ups, investors, government and large corporates. Day two of Cambridge Tech Week explores this ecosystem – charting the journey from innovation through to global collaboration and adoption. This message is at the heart of the keynote from our Chief Commercial Officer Tim Fowler – who will give insight into the innovation journey from academia to start-up to MNCs and beyond at next week’s Cambridge Tech Week. On the same day, just across the road in the Cambridge Corn Exchange, the Innovation Alley will host some of the brightest early-stage companies, scale-ups, and larger tech companies, all offering a dynamic and interactive showcase of their solutions. And, of course, Cambridge Consultants will be among them – offering a balanced and objective view of the future of innovation. https://hubs.li/Q02Nz1-30 #CamTechWeek #Innovation #ArtificialIntelligence #Quantum #DeepTech #ClimateTech #Cambridge #UKTech

🚀 Exciting times at Aaltoes Project Fusion!! 🚀 We just wrapped up an incredible Materials Tech Bootcamp organized by me, Joni Pulkkinen, & Robin Gustafsson and I couldn't be more thrilled to share some highlights with you all! 💫 At Fusion, we are passionate about commercializing research and fostering the growth of Deep Tech startups in Finland. Our recent bootcamp was a testament to this mission, as it connected students with R2B groups from Aalto University and Helsinki University, bridging the gap between groundbreaking research and commercialization aspects. 🤯 The bootcamp delved deep into the latest advancements in materials science, featuring insightful sessions led by founders, venture capitalists, and experts in the field. It was inspiring to see students and researchers come together to explore new ideas and potential commercial applications of their research. ✍ 📈 Personally, this bootcamp was a significant learning experience for me. I gained valuable insights into event organisation and the importance of teamwork. Coordinating with a dedicated team to bring this event to life taught me the intricacies of planning, communication, and collaboration. Witnessing the enthusiasm and innovative spirit of everyone involved reaffirmed my belief in the power of interdisciplinary collaboration. From exploring cutting-edge research to discussing real-world applications, every moment was filled with inspiration and learning. 🤝 I'd love to hear your thoughts on Deep Tech and the commercialization of research. Feel free to drop a comment or connect with me to learn more about Fusion and our upcoming projects! 😎✨ #DeepTech #Aaltoes #Innovation #Fusion #CommercializingResearch
