Published by the NCCH and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Arts, Health and Wellbeing (APPG AHW), the Creative Health Review offers a set of recommendations on how policy can embrace creative health and sets out the development of a cross-departmental strategy. The Review has gathered evidence that shows the benefits of creative health in relation to major current challenges, and examples of where this is already working in practice. 🛌 Would you know where to start buying a bed for your elderly parent? For many, buying a bed to help with care needs can be daunting and confusing. I recently met Phyllis and Tracy, who were both new to the world of profiling beds. Our latest video hears more on their story, and how Phyllis wouldn't be without her new bed (despite her not wanting one initially) I'm sure Phyllis and Tracy's story will inspire others and make life easier for people in similar situations. The Sydney Opera House just missed a golden opportunity. They recently launched a new seat view feature, but instead of using cutting-edge technology, they relied on outdated methods. Imagine this: Instead of taking thousands of photos, they could have used a digital twin of the venue. This would not only save time but also opened up exciting possibilities for their clients and customers: - Set design optimisation: Visualise seats with set pieces in place to ensure perfect sightlines. - Pre-programming capabilities: Program lighting, AV, pyrotechnics, and show control systems before even stepping foot in the venue. - 3D audio analysis: Analyse sound patterns in a fully immersive 3D environment. - Augmented Reality: Imagine seeing Dame Jone Sutherland performing on the Opera Theatre stage or seeing the Sydney Theatre companies set in place before it is even constructed. - Virtual Reality: Create virtual tours of the Sydney Opera House for those people not lucky enough to be able to visit in real life. The Opera House could have taken their service offering to the next level. Instead, they chose the path of least resistance. Let’s hope they embrace innovation next time. P.S. Some Friday thoughts: Embracing authenticity is something often talked about out, but not always put into practice, despite our best efforts. As opera singers, we want to impress the crowd, even when what we think people want goes against what is most natural to express our vocal abilities, especially in the world of opera where passion and genuine expression shine the brightest. Remember to focus on the genuine aspects of your voice rather than getting caught up in a style that doesn't suit you. Your unique voice has its own story to tell, and it deserves to be heard authentically. Are you familiar with this famous opening line from the soap opera Days of Our Lives? “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives”    Do you see time as finite or expandable?   You know time is precious, but do you act like it every day?   Daily Shake Up No. 892 highlights the nature of time as both finite and infinite. Limited and expandable. Precious and forgotten. We all say we want more time, but the truth is we would squander extra time the same ways we squander the time we have. Time is not the problem – it’s our approach to time that’s the problem. We say time is precious, but do we act like it’s precious? We say time is precious, but are we typically present in each moment of time. We say time is precious, do we notice and learn from the situation where time stands still or disappears? Time is precious but only if we act like it’s precious. Time is expandable and can be amplified when we are present in and with the time we have. Don’t wish for more time.
