I started out managing a shop at the age of 23, I never imagined that 30 years later I would still be managing people. Over the years, I've questioned my abilities, but then I remember that I still keep in contact with 90% of the people that worked for me and have helped them advance in their careers and continue to do so. When your staff insists on getting together for one more for the road and won’t take no for an answer, you know you must be doing something right. But there have been days where I felt worthless. “ We read this recently on someone’s post about their job loss. Whilst we genuinely FULLY applaud the openness, the leadership....it made us reflect. The human race has to stop being in a rat race against each other. We don’t have to look accomplished. Please don’t put this on yourselves. You’re not perfect, no one is. Being accomplished doesn’t make you immune to the economy. One, two, three set backs don’t define you. So many people lose their jobs. There’s absolutely no shame in this. Don’t look at what you have lost. Look forward. Look for the positive. Look for the opportunity. Trumpet your flaws, own them. Let them be a beacon. Let’s celebrate our humanness. Let’s stop showing off or trying to beat each other. We could all lose at any moment. But we can all also win. #careeradvice #careercoach
