💸💸Cathie Wood destroyed $14.3bill in shareholder value over the past 10 years.💸💸 That was more than double the next largest wealth destroyer, KraneShares, according to an article in Morningstar, the Top 10 Wealth Destroying Fund Families Over the Past 10 Years. Cathie's ARK funds destroyed so much wealth not just because of its dismal returns, losing 34-67% in 2022 alone, but because of the massive inflows into these funds during 2020 & 2021. That means people were pouring massive amounts of money into these funds at exactly the wrong time. Performance chasing is consistently the top reason why retail & professional investors lose money. The author of the article summarizes this perfectly: "Volatile and speculative categories—as well as unproven fund shops that attract a lot of short-term hype—are best avoided." Over the same period, the S&P 500 returned +158%.

Good evening everyone, SJC Capital here on Thursday, June 6th. The markets did not move much at all today. S&P finished virtually flat. We anticipated this due to the fact that tomorrow at 8:30am, Friday, June 7th, we will get an employment report, which based on the results of the report, will move the market up or down either way. So basically, markets flat until then, they should move tomorrow one way or the other. If they move up, we will move up with them. Again, SJC Capital and S&P Futures Fund to contact me, 973-713-4848, SJC Capital Futures Fund. I will be back to you tomorrow. --- Ready to elevate your investment strategy? Thanks to Tom Stabile and FundFire for the opportunity to discuss the secondaries market in 2024 and beyond. Given the difficult exit environment over the last 18+ months and LPs' growing appetite for liquidity, we're expecting another active year with plenty of opportunities for managers in the space. More broadly, we see the growth of GP-led secondaries as a durable trend, giving sponsors another tool in their toolkit to manage end-of-fund liquidity needs and avoid being forced sellers of high-quality assets. All in all, an exciting time to be investing in the secondaries space.
Capital-raising prospects for secondaries are healthy going into the new year, according to our co-CIO Andrew Krei, CFA. Check out this article from FundFire for what Barrett Upton Capital Partners is seeing in the secondaries market and why we have an optimistic outlook for this area of the market: https://lnkd.in/gHHfp5xu
