🏦 Q1 2024 REPORT 🏦 Axid Studios I/S starts 2024 nicely, with a nice turnover and low expenses, which results in a profit margin of 42.54%. In addition, we have made several investments of a significant amount, which we expect to pay off during Q2. Our Q1 result is promising for us, especially with our focus on investments with future gains. We expect the same to be seen in Q2, with very large investments. #axidstudios #Q1 #financialreport

You may have seen the news that two-time Oscar winner Tippett Studio filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 1st. Two months ago, an 80% stake in the legendary 40-year-old special and visual effects studio was acquired by Phantom FX, the publicly listed VFX firm based in India. Phantom reported revenues of ₹5789.43 lakhs for their 2023 financial year, which converts to roughly USD $7 million. They have over 500 employees. At one point, Tippett had approximately 140 employees -- I am told the headcount has been closer to 50 over the past 5 years -- in the San Francisco Bay area. For Phantom, the acquisition “may lead to the addition of 250 to 300 employees in India, the United States, and Canada.” Chapter 11 allows American businesses to stay open and continue operating while they rework their financial obligations. The bankruptcy filing is presumably a move to restructure Tippett’s US operations, financially if not also operationally.
