Completely agree — the low rate environment over the last several years was abnormal, and the higher rates observed today are more “normal” and here to stay. But the implications are much broader, not only in how private equity investors evaluate platform and bolt-on acquisitions, but how portco management teams manage working capital and allocate capital and resources across their business. Having complete visibility into granular profit across products, customers, geographies and channels is more important than ever. Only those with a keen understanding of these granular economics will be able to make more informed business model decisions that create the level of returns private equity investors have become accustomed to.
