In my early teens back in the 80's, one of my favourite series of books was the Fighting Fantasy series by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone. These books were not your ordinary "read from start to finish books", but you had to arm yourself with a pen, paper and a set of dice. After an introduction to the story, you were given a choice which would lead you to a different section in the book. Your adventure would have you roll the dice to fight monsters, open a locked door using your lockpick skills and other events. So what is my aim with this story ? It was not until recently, that it came to me: "What if there were errors in these books". The authors must have tested the different outcomes to avoid disappointing their readers with a sudden end to the story or a faulty dice roll that would leave you stuck behind a locked door. As you read this, I am planning my next video (or quest) where I will try to test such an old adventure using known test design techniques. Will i conquer the beast or suffer miserably ? Confession time: I freely admit to judging books by their covers. There's a certain magic in a beautifully designed cover paired with a captivating title that can instantly transport me to the worlds created by the authors.
