My dear sisters in Christ, I am a psychologist in Memphis TN , owner of Recovery Associates Group) and a proud mother of two Howard University graduates who are mental health nurse practitioners,PMHNP. We have worked diligently with treating black Veterans in the tristate area who are being denied VA services. Meanwhile, most have relapsed which subsequently resulted in being kicked out of their homes and rendered homeless, exacerbating their mental health conditions, some have completed suicide. We have tried working with the local VA, even invited leadership to visit our clinic two months ago and they verbalized commitment to help bridge the gap between what our heroes are crying out for and the substandard, treatment options provided. I am proud and blessed to say that we have the ONLY black owned Joint Commission accredited facility in the state. MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH and we need your help! Our goal is the minimize suicides, offer quality care and help our black Veterans restore their sense of worth, purpose and improve quality of life.
