Understanding that people with a disability are often overlooked or under-supported, disability inclusion has been one of our key objectives since the inception of FIRMUS Group. Taking the lead, our SA team reached out to Barkuma, a local NFP with an exceptional employment support program for people with a disability. After an initial introduction to FIRMUS Group, a look around our facilities and a chat about the proposed role, Barkuma matched us with Steve. With on-the-job training and ongoing support from Barkuma, Steve has been a part of the FIRMUS Group team for 6 months! Last night, Steve, Lance McKay and David were invited to the Barkuma Employer Awards Gala Dinner hosted by Her Excellency, the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of SA. It was a wonderful evening to acknowledge Steve’s hard work and significant contribution to our business as well as FIRMUS Group’s commitment to the inclusion of people with a disability in our team.
