Soffen, Stephanie Corson Chomentowski, and Andrew Kopsidas secured a favorable U.S. International Trade Commission (“ITC”) initial determination for client EPC - Efficient Power Conversion Corp., the leader in enhancement mode gallium nitride (eGaN®) based power management. The ITC’s preliminary ruling found EPC’s foundational patent, U.S. Patent No. 8,350,294, valid and infringed by Innoscience. The final determination is expected to be issued November 5, 2024. I am delighted to inform you that my new patent, “Temporary isolation system for reservoirs,” has been funded in the USA and is supported by Baker Hughes Company. Abstract: An aqueous fluid is gelled in a productive zone of a subterranean formation to create a temporary fluid-impermeable barrier. The fluid contains nanoparticles, a polyacrylamide with an average molecular weight of about 1.5 million to 22 million Dalton and an encapsulated liquid crosslinking agent. Upon release of the liquid crosslinking agent, the barrier is formed by crosslinking the polyacrylamide. The nanoparticles remain dispersed in the crosslinked gel. The fluid-impermeable barrier is effective over at least 1 hour up to 2 weeks while the downhole temperature in the well is at least 300° C.

Characterisation of an RF-excited broad beam ion source with CHF3-O2 gas mixture In order to gain a detailed understanding of the etching process with an HF-excited broad beam ion source, studies to quantify the ion beam composition with a gas mixture of CHF3 and O2 were carried out for the first time in the IOM's "Ion beam assisted patterning and smoothing" https://lnkd.in/euiKbXP6 working group. These studies form the basis for the description of the ion energy distributions and the ion beam composition for a selected set of process parameters, also for future investigations. This also opens up the possibility of improving the comparability and reproducibility of corresponding technologies and production systems. FERLINI EXPERIMENT AND PARTIAL PRESSURE OF A GAS As I discussed in my previous posts, the Ferlini experiments are nothing but a way to change the partial pressure of a gas in a local region of space, by tranferring electromagnetic energy to it. But how much is this process effective ? Well, to have an idea of this point it is sufficient to invoke the well known Stefan-Boltzmann law corrected with the emissivity (because of non ideal behaviour of air), together with the formula describing the variation of pressure with temperature of an ideal gas. This is a very simple analysis, but effective. The two formulas are reported below, for sake of completeness. Now, by substituting with respect to the temperature in the Stefan-Boltzmann law, it is possible to notice that pressure varies with the fourth power. Now it is just a matter of choosing and setting properly the magnets involved and their disposition. Using pulses the variation of partial pressure could be enormous. Remember also the sort of confinement to which air is subjected to (described in my previous posts about Ferlini Ferlini experiments): the volume involved can be coneidered constant approximatively.
