🛫 💼 On my way back home, waiting for boarding at Vienna Airport I had some time to reflect the All-Hands-Meeting that we had for our EuroCC projekt in the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia 🇸🇰 . First: I again am still surprised how much better face-to-face meetings are compared to our everyday online meetings. Especially when discussing controversial the arguments can be laid out much clearer, especially when you noticed how engaged people are, because you can see more than just their face! 💡🚦 What does this mean now for our project and of course especially for our target group: the (potential) users of HPC and AI in Europe, regardless whether they come from academia, industry or public adminstration? The exchange of ideas that we had during the three days was more than once enlightening: how others try to attract attention, provide the necessary and right information, how they find the right institutions and people whom they are able to help. 🔭 But what was also very helpful: to get an update on the competences around HPC and AI that all our partners have: not only the national competence centers (NCCs) of EuroCC, but also the Centers of Excellence (CoEs) that work on making simulation codes capable of exploiting the fuill potential of EXA-FLOPS systems. And it also became clear, that the information about where to find what is really crucial to be able to help all those who are interested in utilizing these technologies. 🚀 So be prepared to be supported even better by us, our partners at HLRS, at the NCC Germany and EuroCC :-) #EuroCC2 #HPC #HLRS #NCC_Germany

Dear Network, I am very honored to chair the next #ECMP2024. On behalf of the European Federation Of Organizations For Medical Physics - EFOMP Federation of Medical Physics (EFOMP), it is my great pleasure to welcome all European Medical Physicists, colleagues, and friends to the 5th European Congress of Medical Physics (ECMP2024) hosted in Munich, Germany. Medical Physics is a domain in constant evolution, all the more so in this day and age in which we are witnessing the start of a new era. Many important discoveries and developments are happening which will radically change our clinical practice in the next few years. Translational research into novel radiobiology concepts, artificial intelligence, new medical imaging techniques, and others are the main drivers of these strong winds of change. Bringing new technologies and treatment schemes to standard clinical practice has always been one of the roles of the medical physicist. Correspondingly, the theme of this congress: “Bridging the future: from research to new clinical practices”, was informed by this idea. My hope is that #ECMP2024 will serve as a forum to foster discussions and reflections on how to change our mindset to optimally adapt to this rapidly varying environment, including the increase of interdisciplinarity and European communication, improvements to our education programs, and further fortifying the bridge between research and clinical practice. ECMP2024 will be an excellent opportunity for us to share ideas and experiences as well as to further enhance our collaboration with our industrial, vendor partners and sister organizations to deliver this vision. I would like to express my thanks to the Associations of Medical Physicists of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and their respective presidents, Martin Fiebich, Dietmar Georg and Marta Sans Merce, for integrating their trination congress, chaired by Katia Parodi, in ECMP2024, and for choosing an excellent venue for this event. The brand-new Science Congress Center Munich in Garching is located in a first-class research campus which sets a very good example of tight interdisciplinary collaborations around Medical Physics aiming to bring fundamental research into new clinical practices. 🚀 Exciting News from the University of Luxembourg’s SnT, Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust! Today at the SnT Partnership Day, our flagship event, we proudly unveiled a major new research initiative: “Autonomous systems for Land, Air and Space” (ATLAS), backed by a substantial €1.5 million funding from the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) through the prestigious Industrial Partnership Block Grant (IPBG). https://lnkd.in/eiv_qq4F This collaborative effort involves not just SnT but also a consortium of key industrial partners and administrations, including eBus Competence Center, emile weber, GomSpace, Gradel, IEE Sensing, NEXXTLAB, Telindus Luxembourg, and Ville de Luxembourg. 🤝 Each project under ATLAS will be spearheaded by a PhD student, fostering a unique blend of academic rigour and industrial pragmatism. Our interdisciplinary team will focus on energy optimisation, orchestration of #AutonomousSystems, and enhancing cybersecurity, utilising cutting-edge #AI, machine learning, and #robotics technologies. 🤖 "The aim is to create a long-term, open and collaborative programme. This initiative marks the first step in building expertise in autonomous and intelligent systems, positioning it as a cornerstone for #Luxembourg.
