“Is it even a city?” "What Culture?"
Oslo faced a choice:
Option one, pretend to be what it's not—the bustling city, a top European tourist hub like #Paris or London.
And
Option two embraces its true #identity — a serene city with a village vibe, inviting visitors to explore European charm in peace.
In choosing the first path, Oslo would position itself against giants, inviting expectations it couldn't meet. It risks attracting the wrong crowd, disappointed and critical, leading to short-term gains but long-term damage to its reputation.
Instead, Oslo opted for authenticity. Celebrating its unique character—distinct from Paris or Rome—turned its perceived weaknesses into strengths.
This bold move positioned #Oslo as a leader in its category, attracting those who appreciate its genuine appeal, and the right #CustomerPersonas.
Yes, I heard. Oslo is expensive, and only good in summer (𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 😅 🙊 ). Still, this ad demonstrates how embracing authenticity can make a brand irresistibly appealing. It proves that highlighting what makes you different is the key to standing out.
Would you visit Oslo? More importantly, 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠?

Cross-innovation in #culture & #creativeindustries.
Organizations need to look beyond their own sectors if they want to be truly innovative.
To promote dialogue and cross-sector collaboration between industry stakeholders and to pull in the latest research, the goal is to bring key decision-makers from sciences, culture and business together for dialogue, provide a professional, thought-provoking environment, and develop new cross-industry approaches.
🎯 How to cross-innovate in the cultural and creative industries?
SINAPSIS, from the Canary Islands, connects live arts with diverse sectors.
I am thrilled to join my colleagues in supporting 16 cultural projects driving growth through cross-#innovation, blending challenges with solutions for new, innovative proposals.
Throughout this magnificent collaboration with the Gobierno de Canarias, ICDC | Instituto Canario de Desarrollo Cultural: Cristóbal de la Rosa Croissier, Susana Pallarés, Silvia BARONA SANTIAGO, Carla Martín Franchy; in collaboration with the Universitat de Barcelona: Tino Carreño Morales, Lluís Bonet, Giada Calvano, Montserrat Pareja-Eastaway, @me; and Fondazione Fitzcarraldo: Martina Beria, alessandra gariboldi, we want to contribute our vision so that these wonderful islands position themselves as a reference node in the network of creative ecosystems in #Spain.
The team is complemented by outstanding mentors: Albert de Gregorio, Cristina Rodríguez Contrera, Pol Gil Marimon, Giulia Poltronieri, Ramon Castells Ros.
Cross-innovation occurs when skills from cultural and creative industries are applied across different sectors to drive development. The #creativity harbors valuable methods capable of providing fresh perspectives & innovative approaches, thereby generating ideas that prove instrumental in addressing the challenges of the #future.
💡 Why do we work cross-sectorally in SINAPSIS?
🔹We want to help our projects work cross-sectorally. We want to create the conditions for #entrepreneurs to continue developing business ideas that orbit the intersections of different sectors.
🔹We want to give artists access to new markets. Cross-sectoral collaboration is nothing new, but clashes often arise when different work cultures come together. We want to be at the forefront developing working conditions for #artists.
🔹We want to make a difference in society. When artists gain access to other sectors, they can add perspectives that make companies #change, products improve and society develop. Artists are an untapped resource that can assist in societal development.

To shape the future of luxury experience service for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Taiwan's local lodging industry, several aspects are needed: ESG, smart intelligence, digital services, and humanization.
In line with these, personal behavioral literacy plays a secondary determining factor.
In the process of providing humanized services, the Aiello Voice Assistant does more with less.

The relationship between cities and the culture flourishing within them is delicate. While cities often produce culture — almost like in the game Civilization — it can also work in parallel, where cultural phenomena reshape the urban landscape.
Take Linz and Ars Electronica, for example, where a progressive science art festival helped transform a postindustrial city into one of the world’s top destinations for media arts and innovation. This didn’t happen by chance — it was a conscious effort by policymakers to invest in culture. Gerfried Stocker, Ars Electronica's Co-CEO, will shed light on the transformative relationship between Linz and Ars Electronica, while Lucia Ronchetti from the Venice Biennale Musica will discuss how the world’s most famous cultural happening impacts the city of Venice.
On the other hand, there's NEOM — a futuristic city being built in Saudi Arabia, where culture and technology are integrated from the ground up. Unlike traditional cities that evolve over time, NEOM is designed with a forward-thinking vision, embedding creativity and innovation into its very foundation. Michael Lynch, the Executive Director of Entertainment and Culture at NEOM, will explore how this planned city aims to become a global center for cultural and technological advancement.
Airan Berg, a cultural innovator and Artistic Director at the Circus of Knowledge at Johannes Kepler Universität Linz, will moderate the discussion.

In TargetMI our goal is to develop tools for clinicians to enable identification of people at risk for heart attacks, and to develop novel drug targets to prevent them. To do this, we need to exploit the innovations emerging from our research. It is for this reason that last week I attended the event 'Shaping the Future Together: Creating Malta's Innovation Valley' hosted by A8 with the RInnoValleys project. This included a number of interesting talks by Mika Samuel Tala, Diana Miceli from EIT Community RIS Hub Malta, Annija Tropa and Trond Bugge from Ericsson, followed by a discussion summarising the progress in innovation in Malta and the changes that need to be made - amongst them the need for more interaction between academia and industry. This would fit nicely with the innovation ecosystem discussed by Trond Bugge, who also pointed towards the promising outlook of Artificial Intelligence in Business development and planning.
The discussion panel included Johan Zammit from the Malta Innovation Forum, Rachel Camilleri from DiHubMT, András Havasi, RTTP from the Knowledge Transfer Office at the University of Malta, Stanley Muller from AIVHY LTD and Sarah Mifsud Attard from Malta Council For Science & Technology. Martín Vieira and Gonca Kara directed the interesting discussion.
I look forward to more discussions in our path to find ways to develop innovative ideas that are useful to the clinic.
A8 Ltd. is thrilled to announce its upcoming event, 'Shaping the Future Together: Creating Malta's Innovation Valley', hosted in partnership with the RInnoValleys project 💡
