Understanding Pyogenic Ungual Granuloma (PUG) and How DEBRICHEM® Can Help 🌟 Pyogenic Ungual Granuloma (PUG) is a benign vascular lesion that typically occurs around the nail bed. ▶️ This condition involves an overgrowth of granulation tissue, resulting in a red, fleshy mass with many blood vessels. ▶️ This mass bleeds easily when irritated or during treatment procedures. While PUG itself is not caused by an infection, its highly vascular nature makes it prone to secondary infections. The lesion’s surface can become ulcerated, making it susceptible to bacterial colonization, especially if frequently irritated or traumatized. ▶️ The overgrowth of granulation tissue is a reaction to this underlying secondary infection. Unlike healthy granulation tissue, PUG granulation is different in structure: ▶️ It has high water content and abnormal vascularization, which prevents proper wound healing. ▶️ You might also find such granulation tissue in some fistulas or around osteomyelitis. Treating PUG often means longer healing times and bleeding ⏳🩸. Here’s where DEBRICHEM® shines 🌟 A case study by Alberto Cogo and his team on Pyogenic Ungual Granuloma (PUG) patients showed that DEBRICHEM® targeted this water-rich, sensitive granulation tissue. In a single application: 📌 The infection was eradicated 📌 The granulomas were destroyed 📌 There was no bleeding 📌 The surrounding healthy tissue was not damaged 📌All patients were in remission after one week 📹 Watch a presentation by Dr. Alberto Cogo on this case study here: https://lnkd.in/eDWSxarj Stay updated! Understanding Diabetic Foot Complications Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition marked by elevated blood sugar levels that can lead to various complications, particularly in the feet. Individuals with diabetes face increased risks including: - Peripheral Neuropathy: Nerve damage causing numbness or tingling, increasing injury and infection risks - Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD): Impaired blood flow to the feet, hindering wound healing and raising infection risks - Foot Deformities: Structural changes like hammertoes or Charcot foot increasing pressure points and injury vulnerability - Impaired Immune Function: Weakened immune systems making infections more likely Common Diabetic Foot Complications: - Neuropathy: Numbness leading to unnoticed injuries or infections - Foot Ulcers: Open wounds from poor circulation and neuropathy, risking infection and amputation - Charcot Foot: Severe foot deformities and fractures from neuropathy - Peripheral Vascular Disease: Reduced blood flow causing tissue damage and amputation risks Prevention and Management: - Control Blood Sugar - Quit Smoking - Daily Foot Care: Check feet daily for injuries or sores, keep them clean, dry, and moisturised - Regular Foot Exams: Routine checks by healthcare professionals to catch issues early - Proper Footwear: Wear well-fitting shoes with good support - Brisbane Physiotherapy #brisbanephysiotherapy #brisbanephysio #physiotherapy #physio #physiotherapist #podiatry #diabetes #ulcers#diabeticfoot

It’s crucial to raise awareness about how skin conditions manifest differently on darker skin tones. One example is psoriasis. In people of color, the color of the lesions can vary widely, and often result in pigmentary sequela, or areas of increased or decreased pigmentation in the affected areas after healing. Unfortunately, psoriasis is frequently misdiagnosed in people of color, as its symptoms can mimic other conditions, like Lupus. Many dermatologists lack training in diverse environments, and therefore lack the ability to address these unique needs. If they are to provide better care for all patients, they must educate themselves on these differences. This video is part of an educational initiative by the Skin of Color Society and aims to raise awareness about the specific impact of various dermatologic conditions and diseases on people with darker skin tones. Please watch to learn more about how skin conditions affect people of color differently. The Skin of Color Society will release more content throughout the year, so stay tuned to learn more about these issues. https://lnkd.in/guAm-m_C

🎉 Monday article reading day! 📄 Title: Current approach to moisturizer and emollient utilization in atopic dermatitis: a review 🔗https://lnkd.in/gZNE7XXJ 🔖 Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that primarily affects the barrier function of the skin in patients. The condition has been documented to cause xerosis in patients from birth onwards. In order to protect the skin barrier in AD, it is of the utmost importance to moisturize the skin. Moisturizers and emollients play a pivotal role in the prevention and treatment of AD. Concordantly, the use of moisturizers and emollients can facilitate the reduction in the necessity for the application of topical treatments such as corticosteroids. An understanding of the use of moisturizers and emollients, in conjunction with an appreciation of the pathophysiology of the skin barrier, will prove invaluable in the treatment of AD. #Atopicdermatitis #moisturizer #emollient #treatment

A certain amount of UV radiation is necessary for our well-being. ☀ The skin absorbs the sun's UVB rays to produce the important vitamin D. However, if the UV radiation exceeds a certain dose, acute damage occurs. Excessive UV radiation can lead to accelerated skin ageing with wrinkles and pigmentation disorders, sunburn and even skin cancer. Regular use of sunscreen can protect the skin. Consumers can choose between a variety of formulations (cream, gel, spray...) with different sun protection factors. Do you have itchy, red, sore eyes or suffer from dry eyes? 👁 Intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment improves the quality of your tears and provides symptomatic relief for your dry eyes. We first need to understand the cause of dry eyes. Up to 50% of dry eyes are caused by blepharitis or meibomian gland dysfunction (GD). IPL uses gentle pulses of light to treat the underlying causes of dry eye. 🔆 The pulses of light target the eyelids, reducing inflammation and any associated bacterial growth in the area around your eyes. This treatment treats blepharitis and MGD and subsequently slows the progression of chronic dry eye in addition to giving you symptom relief. If you've had limited relief from other dry eye treatments, then IPL treatment may be the option for you. 📌 Book an appointment here for more info: https://lnkd.in/eNh8vy9q #Oculase #EyeClinic #DryEyes #DryEyeTreatment #Blepharitis #Vision #Eyes #London #Birmingham #Herts #Bucks #IPL #Blephex #Cleaning #Ophthalmology #Optometry #Treatment #DryEye #Eyedrops #RedEye #Conjunctivitis #Pain #Eyelid #Chalazion #Stye #Cyst #Inflammation #EyeDoctor #Ophthalmologist #Optometrist
