Men, if you’re 50 or older and average risk for prostate cancer, you should get screened every one to two years. Men who are at high risk include: African-American men, those with a family member diagnosed with prostate cancer under the age of 60 or those with a known genetic mutation that confer risk of cancer (BRCA 1/2, Lynch syndrome). For those at high risk, you should start screening between 40 to 45 years of age. Men of average risk should start screening at 50. You can get screened at your primary care office. What is prostate cancer screening? A meta-analysis of pooled cohort studies (DOI: 10.1007/s00432-024-05672-y) involving 4224 gastric cancer cases identifies tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) as significant for prognosis and response to immunotherapy. Patients with higher TLS levels had a marked association with smaller tumor sizes, less advanced disease stages, and better overall survival rates, highlighting TLS as a biomarker for enhanced immunoreactivity and patient outcomes. #Oncology #ClinicalOncology #Biomarkers #PatientCare

In our recent editorial, we delved into the evolving landscape of first-line treatment for metastatic gastric cancer, highlighting the cautious optimism that current research affords. Key trials like CHECKMATE-649 and the developments in biomarker identification, such as PD-L1 and CLDN18.2, suggest a nuanced yet hopeful path forward in treating this challenging disease. While the integration of immunotherapy and targeted therapies into treatment protocols marks a significant step, the journey towards truly personalized medicine is ongoing. The complexities of tumor biology and patient response underline the importance of continued research and collaboration in this field. 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰⁉️ In #Bangladesh, #BRCA1 and #BRCA2 mutations play a significant role in #hereditary #breast and #ovarian cancer, as seen in other South Asian countries. 👉While specific #national #statistics are still emerging, research indicates that about 𝟓-𝟔% of 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬. 💡These #mutations notably increase #cancer risk, underscoring the importance of #genetic testing for early #detection and #personalized treatment strategies. As #awareness grows and more #genetic data is gathered, we expect more accurate and population-specific statistics to emerge, helping to improve precision oncology for patients across #Bangladesh 🇧🇩. #BRCA #GeneticTesting #CancerResearch #BreastCancerAwareness #PrecisionOncology #Bangladesh #4baseCare #DidYouKnow

🔍 Stage IIB/C vs. Stage IIIA Colon Cancer Survival Paradox: Recent study explores the surprising survival outcomes between these stages. 📊🧬 Findings: - 5-year survival rates: 84.3% for optimally treated Stage IIIA vs. 72.8% for Stage IIB/C. - Stage T1N1 shows the highest survival among Stage IIIA, significantly better than Stage T4bN0 from Stage IIC. - Stage IIC associated with a 17% higher risk of mortality compared to IIIA, showcasing a 21% reduction in death risk. 🤔 Conclusion: The survival paradox persists even with adequate treatment and lymph node retrieval. More research needed to understand and integrate these insights into future cancer staging. #ColonCancer #CancerResearch #Oncology
