National Cancer Awareness Day Did you know? 🌍 National Cancer Awareness Day was introduced in 2014 by the Government of India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Marie Curie, the pioneering scientist whose work in radioactivity paved the way for advancements in cancer treatment. Her discoveries became the foundation for radiotherapy, offering hope to millions affected by cancer. Today, let’s raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and accessible treatment for all. Early diagnosis can save lives, and knowledge is our most powerful tool against this disease. Let’s pledge to support research, spread awareness, and extend compassion to those affected. 💪❤️ #cancerawareness #Cancer #MarieCurie #CancerAwareness #facts #Radiotherapy #EstevePharma #pharmacy #vitamin #vitaup #emsocool

Gen X Cancer Rates⬆️ Generation X is experiencing larger per-capita increases in the incidence of leading cancers combined than any prior generation born from 1908 through 1964. A study published in JAMA Network Open shows people born between 1965 and 1980 have experienced decreases in certain cancers including lung and cervical. However, several other types of cancer are increasing, including #thyroid, #kidney, #prostate, and #ovarian. This trend of cancer incidence in the US could remain unacceptably high for decades to come. 🔗 A link to the study is in the comments. Source: Rosenberg PS, Miranda-Filho A. Recent reports indicate a concerning rise in prostate cancer cases globally, with an estimated 14 lakh new cases reported in 2020. Prostate cancer is projected to become even more prevalent by 2040, with an expected increase to 29 lakh cases. It is noted as the most common cancer in men across 112 countries, constituting 15% of all cancer cases. Tragically, an estimated three lakh 75 thousand men succumbed to prostate cancer worldwide in 2020, a number expected to rise by 85% by 2040. Early detection through tests like PSA screening is crucial as prostate cancer typically manifests after the age of 45-50. Prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment are vital in combating this escalating health challenge. . . . . . #republictalks #news #newsalert #newsupdate #prostatecancer #prostatehealth #prostatecancersurvivor #prostatecancerresearch

🫁 Anyone can get lung cancer. Unfortunately, many people are diagnosed once their disease has already advanced. 🔎 Screening can help detect lung cancer earlier, when treatments are more likely to work. That’s why getting checked is so important for anyone who is at high risk. In Singapore, the SOLSTICE study was set up to examine if Low Dose CT scans and blood-based biomarker tests are effective for lung cancer screening in the local high- and/or at-risk populations. India has achieved a new milestone in cancer treatment. The CD19-directed CAR T-cell therapy, developed by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Tata Memorial Centre, is effective against severe blood cancers like acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-hodgkin lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. This therapy has successfully completed phase 1 trials, demonstrating safety and efficacy on par with global standards. Supported by the Department of Biotechnology, phase 2 trials are now underway, alongside research into CAR T-cell solutions for other cancers. A proud step towards affordable, indigenous cancer therapies! Read more: https://lnkd.in/dGyUJrFG #BioAngels #CARTCellTherapy #CancerCare #BiotechIndia #Biotechnology

There has been great improvement in #cancer survival rates over time; however, the conclusion below is wrong M. Jamil, Ph.D. The most impact has been from screening, e.g., in #breast and #prostate as well as #cervical cancer - the latter almost eradicated cervical cancer death. Early detected #cancers are treatable today, whereas less than 10% of late-stage cancers have a good outcome. You can read more about the impact of diagnostics on cancer outcomes in Bruce Ratner's book "Early Detection" here is my review of the book and my own 5 cents https://lnkd.in/ecA4MUpE Genomic Expression is raising funds to launch our #RNA diagnostic platform https://lnkd.in/e_jbSKhS?. We have CLIA validated in breast and ovarian cancer with close to 100% diagnostic yield. In contrast, DNA panels yield less than 40% on average, and that drops to half in low mutation frequency tumors. #VC typically doesn't invest in diagnostic, which makes it the least supported tool in the toolbox with the most #Impact. Funding for #biotech was very difficult in general in #2024; early-stage diagnostics, in particular: Cancer diagnostics, which despite their life-saving potential, remain underutilized, underpaid, and therefore underfunded. In 2024, out of the $30B invested in biotech, only $2B went into diagnostics. Of those, only $140M went into four early-stage companies (Series Seed and A, Silicon Valley Bank data). Genomic Expression Inc has unlocked the $560B of philanthropic $$ by passing Realize Impact's rigorous due diligence. They make it simple: fill out the Realize Impact Form here https://lnkd.in/grpHisju and specify your donation "in support of Genomic Expression." Realize Impact made its first investment in Genomic Expression in December. The news will be featured on their website and in a newsletter that will go out to 3,000 impact investors. Reimagining cancer care that enhances quality of life, reduces pain and suffering and extend lives for communities around the world | Columbia Business School
Five-year survival rates are a key measure of cancer control progress, influenced by factors such as cancer stage at diagnosis, biology, and treatment. Survival rates vary widely—high for breast (91%) and prostate (97%) cancers, moderate for colon cancer (64%), and lower for lung cancer (20-30%). Pancreatic cancer survival has improved significantly over decades, now reaching 12-13%, though it remains highly aggressive. Early diagnosis improves outcomes, but lung cancer continues to require focused attention. #lungcancer #survivalrates #screening #diagnosis #treatment
