🍊 Introducing the Mexico FLOW Project! 🍊   In northern Veracruz, farmers, Indigenous communities, and women leaders are coming together to transform citrus farming through agroecology.   Huerta Madre Farm was once a conventional citrus farm, but over the past 20 years has transitioned to a holistic agroecological system. Over 3,500 small-scale producers have participated in this transition, moving away from agrochemicals and adopting sustainable techniques like cover cropping, manual weed management, and using artisanal bio-inputs to protect the land and improve yields.   Now, farmers, researchers, and community leaders are working together to scale up agroecological citrus production. The Mexico FLOW project is building capacity, sharing knowledge, and influencing state and national policy to ensure that sustainable food systems become a priority at multiple scales.
