How well is #AI truly augmenting you?

Great advice on when to use #AI vs defining the rules and logic. Maybe not so much now, but in past I often wondered how many software companies were doing the opposite, where they were touting AI as a competitive advantage when all they really had was a program with a 1000 if/then statements.
