During the recent Women Leaders in Healthcare luncheon, Kim Keck, President & CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, reminded us that leadership isn’t just about being at the forefront. It's also about knowing when to step back and empower others to shine. In today's fast-paced world, true leadership requires the wisdom to balance both “leading” and “supporting.” Kim's words echo to us that leadership isn't a one-size-fits-all role. In fact, the best leaders recognize the power of collaboration and the importance of nurturing talent by sometimes leading from behind. It's in these moments that leaders truly elevate their teams and drive lasting impact. What a powerful reminder of the nuanced art of leadership! We can’t wait to celebrate more phenomenal healthcare leaders and connect at the Diversity Leaders in Healthcare Awards, Tuesday, September 17th in Chicago. For more than 15 years, Furst Group and NuBrick Partners have sponsored and supported Diversity and Women Leaders programs that highlight outstanding leaders creating positive, sustainable change across healthcare. We hope to see you there! You can learn more about this year's Diversity and Women Leader honorees in the comments below. #Inclusion #HealthcareLeaders

One of my favorite parts of being a woman in leadership is uplifting others, and especially others’ voices. This Women’s History Month, I wanted to share words of wisdom from other women in healthcare leadership roles. One of my favorite quotes gives advice on leading successful teams and projects, “Open your heart and listen to those around you.” #leadership #WomensHistoryMonth #womeninleadership

Thought on Leadership from Women in Healthcare Beckers Hospital Review (Kelly Gooch - Friday, March 8th, 2024) asked women in the healthcare industry to sharer their insight on leadership. Their comments are worth sharing for the next couple days. Heidi Gartland. Chief Government and Community Relations Officer for University Hospitals (Cleveland): As women leaders, I think we need to champion the next generation of women leaders by making sure they feel included and that they belong. We can do that by making sure they find colleagues to mentor them, connect them with leadership programs and ensure that their voices are heard. My other piece of advice is to ask yourself how you can use your expertise and talents to lift up the community that you live and work in. This may involve finding a passion or a cause that you can advocate for. Nieca Goldberg, MD. Medical Director at Atria NY and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine (New York City): There are two keys to success as a leader: Open your heart and listen to those around you. Some of the most successful projects I have worked on were successful because everyone's voice was heard. We must ensure that up and down the ladder, the expertise and perspectives reflected are as diverse as the patient populations we serve.

Consulting Psychologist and Executive Coach, bringing out the best in leaders, helping professionals, manage career change, succession planning with family businesses, and best-selling author.
This past month, Leaders Connect Detroit hosted a panel titled "How Women Lead," featuring Dr. Kimberly Andrews Espy, President of Wayne State University; Denise Brooks-Williams, Senior Vice President and CEO of Care Delivery at Henry Ford Health Systems; and Kristi Stepp, Partner at Sigred Solutions, who also served as the moderator for the event. Today, I would like to highlight some of the key takeaways from the event. 1. Build a personal board of directors by gathering individuals who embody your aspirations or offer valuable insights and input. 2. In a leadership role it's essential to delegate success to others on your team. When I highlight how remarkable our division is, emphasize the outcomes achieved by the team's efforts, not by myself. 3. Leadership is not confined to a title; communicate that regardless of someone’s position, they have the capacity to lead and exert influence. 4. The success of an organization depends on the contributions of everyone in their respective roles. 5. Avoid taking things personally; more often than not, reactions are more about the other person than they are about you. 6. Throughout your career, seek out mentors and strive to keep those relationships strong. 7. Value family and be sure to keep those relationships strong. 8. Take good care of yourself. 9. Recognize that success takes time: each step of succeeding in a leadership role leads to the next step. 10. Develop your key skill set, especially presentation skills. Spire Healthcare is focused on the representation of women at the top of British business. We are delighted today to be first in Health Care and we remain 7th overall for women in senior leadership across the biggest 400 listed and private companies in the UK by the FTSE Women Leaders Review. We are one of 68 FTSE 350 companies that have already met, or exceeded the target for Women in Leadership, and have done so two years ahead of the target date of 2025. FTSE Women Leaders ➡https://lnkd.in/dsa5G-D The review is the government-backed, business-led voluntary initiative focused on increasing the representation of women on boards and leadership teams in the FTSE 350 and 50 of the UK’s largest private companies. The review builds on the work of the Hampton-Alexander and Davies Reviews which preceded it. The UK’s approach is the most ambitious in scale of any country to push this important issue. #FTSEwomen

🎙 Here's another instalment from our Female Leadership series! 💙 I was joined by the lovely Pam Pahal from Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, Heidi Poole from University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, Sarah Mills and Lorraine Laing from Innovate Healthcare Services Ltd. 💡 We covered a whole host of topics including, how emotional intelligence has played a part in their leadership journey, how their organisations are supporting women in leadership, and how mentorship has played a part in their growth as leaders. 👂 I took a lot away from this discussion and I'd urge any aspiring female leader to take a listen! #nhs #femaleleadership #leadership
