One of the biggest challenges to improving care for low-income older adults and folks with disabilities who are dual eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid is that the programs, policies, and delivery systems simply don’t talk to one another. So we are pleased to partner with @PennLDI & @Health_Affairs to bring together people who are dually eligible, providers, researchers, and policymakers to share their experiences and ideas for making care more patient-centered and affordable. Now out in JAMA Health Forum, we studied nationwide availability and uptake of dual-eligible special needs plans (D-SNPs) with exclusively aligned enrollment (receive Medicare and Medicaid benefits through the same plan or affiliated plans within the same organization). Among 2.7 million full-benefit dual-eligible beneficiaries nationally, we found that 38.9% resided in counties with exclusively aligned plan enrollment available and that 11.9% enrolled in such plans. -with Eric Roberts, Jose Figueroa, Michelle Hendricks, Megha Dabas, Eliza Macneal, David J.
