Current interns 🤝 former interns: During our recent Lunch and Learn session, summer interns had the chance to engage in a panel discussion with former interns who shared their experience at #BlueCrossofIdaho!
Our summer interns are a few weeks into their internship, and today we had our first Lunch and Learn session with former Blue Cross of Idaho interns who are now full-time employees. They shared their experiences and offered valuable advice. I can’t wait to see the impact this class of interns will have on our organization!

Yesterday marked the conclusion of my internship with Nannette Nocon a private wealth advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from an industry professional with 40 years of experience. The support of Nannette and her team helped me flourish.
Key Takeaways:
1. Prioritizing/Time Management: The early exposure to the difference between full-time work and school became evident. There can be more freedom within one work day, whereas school has a more rigid schedule. This internship taught me how to manage my time in a professional setting, and reprioritize as new tasks were presented.
2. Heart/Passion: Seeing first hand how passionate and positive Nannette was every day was so inspiring. It is true what they say about loving what you do and its impact on a person’s success. Seeing how love and energy Nannette puts into her meetings was amazing, pushing me to put my best foot forward.
3. Always ask questions: Nannette always said that the people with the questions tend to learn more than those with the answers. With that piece of advice, I felt empowered to ask for help or clarification throughout this experience. Asking questions enabled me to improve my communication skills. As I learned to concisely convey what I was struggling with, what needed to be accomplished and when. With this in mind, I was successfully able to collaborate with other team members to get tasks completed in a timely manner.
I want to end by saying a huge thank you to Nocon & Associates. I will miss you all so much, but look forward to staying connected and seeing where my future goes!

In my first job, a skill I learned that still serves me today is... the value of adaptability. Early in my career, interning with eSports & convention marketing campaigns, I quickly realized that no event or project ever goes exactly as planned. Whether it was resolving unexpected issues like a tardy vendor or finding creative solutions on the fly, expecting the unexpected made all the difference.
The fast-paced environment and long hours of the event world have taught me that success often times comes from anticipating needs and taking decisive action quickly. How you react to the curveballs thrown your way is a critical aspect of quality success and leadership.
These lessons in adaptability and proactive problem-solving have not only shaped my professional journey but also enriched my personal life. Despite all our planning, we never 100% know what’s coming next - and that unpredictability is what makes the journey exciting!
Remember to embrace change with an open mindset and take initiative where you can today!
