The federal government shut down its Greener Homes grant portal on Feb 12th, leaving homeowners without critical support for undertaking the efficiency upgrades they’ve been urged to make. Blue House Energy is stepping into the void with an affordable online course so Canadians aren’t left at the mercy of contractors and grant applications to protect their investment and improve their living conditions. The uncertainty created by the cuts is undermining the progress the energy efficiency industry desperately needs. Our CEO Shawna Henderson, says: “With some basic knowledge about the science behind the way houses work, people can take control of their own costs, comfort, and safety. We were just as shocked by the grant and we want to help. Today we’re releasing an online, low-cost course called Home Comfort Mastery that will give Canadians the confidence and tools to take on energy retrofit projects that don’t break the bank.” “We see this as closing the circle. Engaging the most important players when it comes to energy efficiency upgrading – the homeowners,” says Henderson. “At this point, it’s critical to provide Canadians with the knowledge they need to protect their investment, improve their quality of life, and contribute to a greener future.” Blue House Energy’s Home Comfort Mastery course is now available and costs $75. Homeowners have a full year to use the content and access to a national discussion forum that goes with the course. Link to the course is in first comment.
