Ex-Risk and Compliance Intern at KPMG Nigeria | Finance | Demography & Social Statistics | ACA(In view)| B.Sc Demography and social statistics (In view)
What I ordered Vs What I got Y'all will agree with me that most Nigerian students say, "That's the course they gave me", after acing Jamb and Post Utme. To even think that most times we exceed the cut off mark for our course of interest. Lol Going back to 2020, when I found Demography and Social Statistics on my portal, instead of Accounting. It was a mixed feeling for me even though I had earlier started ICAN immediately after secondary school. I had to accept it with the mind that, I will cross in part 2. Alas, resuming to school in 100 level, I found Demography to be interesting because it's something I've never heard of. Buried with the thought of becoming a Chartered Accountant, made me to forget I ever wanted to cross. Although, combining the two has sometimes made me torn in between them. But I know what I want and I'll stay committed to it. I will strike a balance by saying, "Be flexible". Don't be rigid, know when to transition to learning new relevant skill. Be open to learning. Having said all this, I will finalise by saying these: 📌Don't give up on your dream. 📌Stay true and committed to what you want. 📌The world has no place for those that relent. 📌Resilience and Determination will keep you moving. I am Oluwatomiwa Adewoyin, AAT. Let's connect! #personaldevelopment #selfdiscovery

Head of ACCA Southern Europe. Driver of growth in companies and teams. Passionate about working with people.
The most recent ACCA Global Talent Trends survey https://lnkd.in/eASykazW revealed the hopes and concerns of young (future) professionals for their career in accounting and finance. Technology was found to be empowering but many feel there is a skills gap in this area. Almost half of respondents expect to move roles within the year. Biggest work-related concern is inflation and its impact on real wages, second concern is wellbeing. Respondents told us that they see a career in accountancy as a smart choice for long-term professional prospects. All these and more were addressed in an hour-long discussion between Kyriakos Iordanou, FCCA, General Manager of The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus - ΣΕΛΚ and Diana Ivanova, ACCA prizewinner. Besides these global trends, more than 400 young professionals in Europe had the chance of learning from their personal and professional experiences. Thank you Kyriakos and Diana for taking your time to inspire the future generations with this occasion as well!

SUMMER RECAP PT. 5 After I participated in the virtual work experience with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, it was suggested that I attended a seminar hosted by the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered institute in England and Wales), with the title "What do Chartered Accountants do?". During this seminar, all the different careers you could have after becoming a Chartered accountant were discussed. This part of the talk was informative and gave me more insight into the potential careers in finance. The second part of the session discussed how to get an ACA qualification and become ICAEW member. This part of session briefed all the participants on the journey to become a Chartered accountant.
