Interesting video regarding the study of where many engineers pointed out that software projects adopting Agile practices are 268% more likely to fail than those that do not. Now as I have been interviewing, it has given me an inside look that it is very apparent that true agile is rarely practice and every place has their own version of what it means to be Agile. Could this account for the disparity instead of the blame on one actual methodology? Or maybe even companies choosing the wrong methodology for their teams. After all Agile was seen as a way to combat issues with Waterfall but again Waterfall methodology has been proven to work in the past and in some areas. So again, boils down to more in practice than actual methodologies in my opinion.

| Head of Engineering at Numan | Startup Founder | Product Engineering | Personal Growth | Agile | Leadership |
I co-founded a software company to help teams get the most out of agile meetings. Naturally, we implement agile principles to build the tool itself. Mike and I have full-time jobs, so if there’s one thing we lack is time. And that’s where agile principles have come in handy, especially two. The first thing is that we prioritize lean development. We keep the scope small and avoid large, high-stakes projects. That doesn’t mean we don’t work on or ship major features, but rather that we brutally prioritize. One thing we also do is practice design over development. What does that mean? We prototype design and functionality directly in the frontend code and then build the backend to support it. We embrace the agile mindset and stay lean and efficient. Our focus is on creating (and delivering) value to customers fast rather than getting bogged down in the process.

For many developers (myself included), Agility is a vague concept. 🤔 Sprints, daily meetings, retrospectives, tickets... A few months ago, I decided to take a closer look at the subject. 🔎 My aim was to understand the basics of Agile Software Development and its history! This article is a summary of what I've learned. I hope it will help some developers to see things more clearly! Thanks Erwan Bourgeois⚡ for your help! https://lnkd.in/dSC4cDF9 Article en Français ici : https://lnkd.in/dmvWgkaY

Why Critical Thinking is Fundamental for Agile Software Development Environments ❓ ❓❓ **💡 I recently received a request to develop the user interface for an interaction component, which led me to reflect on the importance of critical thinking in agile software development environments. **🧠 Faced with this challenge, instead of impulsively diving into interface development, I opted for an approach based on critical thinking. Firstly, I meticulously analyzed all aspects of the problem, identifying the root causes and the potential impacts of each user decision. **🔍 Subsequently, I sought additional information and consulted expert colleagues to explore different perspectives and gain a more comprehensive understanding of the situation. I followed the following principles to guide my critical thinking: - 🔍 How do we ensure we're addressing the correct problem? - 🛠️ How do we ensure we're addressing the problem in the correct manner? - 🔬 How can we break down the main question into smaller ones for further analysis? - 🗣️ How do I effectively and logically communicate the solution to all stakeholders? - 📆 How do we determine when the solution is complete? - ✅ When is the solution considered "good enough"? - ⏳ What shortcuts can we take if we're under constraints, without compromising the sprint? **🚀 Finally, by applying critical thinking, I was able to develop a user interface that not only met the functional requirements but also met the users' expectations and the overall project needs.

"I empower individuals to reach their full potential and guide companies towards unparalleled success."
**How We, as Software Developers, Allowed Business to Distort the Agile Manifesto** The value chain that Agile methodologies bring to the table is incredible. The ability to adapt, iterate, and deliver frequently has revolutionized how we think about software development. However, somewhere along the line, we let others distort this vision. In the rush to meet *Time to Market* demands, many companies have neglected core principles like software architecture, security, and quality. The common excuse? "We'll evolve it as the project matures." But the reality is, skipping these foundational steps creates massive technical debt that often hits harder after the software is delivered. One thing that all software engineers must accept is that software changes. If you're in a situation where the architecture blocks evolution, then the software is failing at its core. Proper architecture takes time—there’s no way around it. It might not be easy to change, but it should be *simple*—and if it's not, we should acknowledge that we’ve missed the mark. It's time to bring the conversation back to balance. Agile isn't about cutting corners or skipping quality steps—it's about delivering value while ensuring the longevity and scalability of what we build. Shall we get back to WORK better and carefully?

🚀 Understanding Agile Methodology in Software Development 🚀 W3Schools.com JavaScript Mastery Agile is a collaborative, flexible, and iterative approach to software development. It focuses on delivering value in small, usable increments rather than a one-time delivery after a long project. Key Principles of Agile: 1️⃣ Customer Collaboration – Continuous interaction with customers to meet their needs. 2️⃣ Iterative Development – Develop, test, and release in small chunks (sprints), enabling feedback and adaptation. 3️⃣ Responding to Change – Agile teams are flexible and open to change at any point in the project lifecycle. 4️⃣ Cross-functional Teams – Teams with diverse skill sets work together for better efficiency and faster results. Benefits of Agile: ✔️ Better customer satisfaction ✔️ Faster time to market ✔️ Improved product quality ✔️ Greater team collaboration Popular Frameworks in Agile: Scrum 🏃♂️ Kanban 📊 XP (Extreme Programming) 🤖 💡 Agile isn’t just a methodology, it’s a mindset that encourages collaboration, adaptability, and transparency in every aspect of software development. #Agile #ProjectManagement #Scrum #SoftwareDevelopment #Kanban #XP

A very interesting video about the state of current agile development environment. Something, which was called originally agile, has been changed to strict processes, excessive meetings, unmotivating work environment and failed planning and management practises. Perhaps we need to go back to well planned waterfall until we know how agile really should be implemented?

## Let's Talk Agile ### What is Agile Software Development? Agile software development goes beyond frameworks like Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), or Feature-Driven Development (FDD). It extends beyond practices such as pair programming, test-driven development, stand-ups, planning sessions, and sprints. Agile software development is an overarching term that encompasses various frameworks and practices rooted in the values and principles outlined in the Manifesto for Agile Software Development and its accompanying 12 Principles. Adopting Agile means embracing these values and principles to guide decision-making and determine the best course of action for your specific context. A key aspect that sets Agile apart from other software development approaches is its emphasis on the people involved and their collaborative efforts. Solutions emerge through the cooperation of self-organizing, cross-functional teams that utilize practices suitable for their particular situations. The Agile community places significant importance on collaboration and the autonomy of self-organizing teams. #agile #sdlc #software_development #project_management
