Catering in India, as such, has made tremendous changes. Earlier marriages were family functions when considering food. A Maharaj would be provided with the service, who would then ensure that cooking was done by relatives in the house like Chachaji or Fufaji while everything was being taken care of. The menu would strictly be the local traditional food that belonged to generations of the respective family, representing the heritage and culture. The change However, the scenario is very different with the emergence of professional caterers. Today, catering services take care of everything from preparation to serving, so that families need not bother about the kitchen during celebrations. The types of food served at wedding ceremonies have also become extremely diverse. Whereas the core of the menu lies in traditional Indian dishes, a much wider variety ranges from world cuisines, fusion dishes, to live food counters of pasta stations, sushi bars, and more. Variety indeed caters to all that modern tastes and preference want and make weddings even memorable. The numbers involved: Growth in Disposable Income: One of the principal reasons for this is a rise in disposable income. According to Statista, the per capita income of India increased from ₹87,623 in 2012-13 to ₹172,000 in 2023-24. This has also ensured that families could splurge and invest in quality catering, especially bespoke catering services, creating very lavish and personalized experiences of a wedding. Diverse Menus In addition, the wedding functions have increased in number in recent years. Marriages are now spread over multiple days with pre-wedding functions such as sangeet, mehndi, and cocktail parties that demand their own specific menus. This has resulted in higher creativity and innovation in catering with menus that change according to the type of event. In today’s weddings, catering isn’t just about providing food—it’s about offering an unforgettable experience that blends traditional flavors with modern trends, making each wedding celebration truly special. #IndianWeddings #WeddingCatering #CateringIndustry #FoodIndustry #IndianCuisine #CulinaryTrends #EventPlanning #WeddingCateringIndia #IndianWeddingFood #BespokeCatering #LuxuryCatering #WeddingTrends #DisposableIncome #CulinaryInnovation #ExperientialDining

The wedding season is here, and everyone is attending ceremonies like the baraat, tilak, engagement, or sangeet. Earlier, people would visit relatives a couple of days before the event. Gradually, this time decreased, and now people often attend on the same day. These days, it’s all about when the food starts. People tend to attend functions just to eat, especially when they have multiple weddings to attend in one day. They often prioritize events with more food variety. However, such variety also attracts more crowds, making it awkward to navigate through the hustle at food counters. No worries! Here are some ninja techniques to enjoy the food peacefully: 1. Choose the Right Time: Avoid the rush by eating either slightly before or after the main meal time. For example, head to the food counters while others are busy dancing. 2. Pick a Smart Spot: Instead of hovering around food stalls, sit a little away and ask a familiar person to assist you with getting the food. 3. Go for Calm Choices: Start with less crowded counters instead of heading directly to the busiest ones. Grab dessert or snacks first. 4. Coordinate with Friends or Relatives: Go in a group and take turns preparing plates for each other. This minimizes your time standing in line. 5. Plan Ahead: Check out the menu and decide what you want to eat. Avoid unnecessary rounds at the counters. 6. Seek Staff Assistance: If the crowd is too overwhelming, ask the event organizers or catering staff to bring food to your table. By following these tips, you can enjoy your meal and avoid the hassle of pushing through the crowd. If you found these tips helpful, share them with your foodie friends. #WeddingSeason #IndianWeddings #ShaadiVibes #FoodLover #DesiFood #CelebrationMode #BigFatIndianWedding #ShaadiSaga

The History of the Feast of the Seven Fishes: A Christmas Eve Tradition 🐟 As the holiday season approaches, many Italian-American families look forward to one of the most beloved traditions: The Feast of the Seven Fishes. But where did this festive, seafood-filled meal come from, and why does it hold such a special place in Christmas Eve celebrations? The Feast of the Seven Fishes (or La Vigilia) is a long-standing Italian tradition that celebrates Christmas Eve with a meal focused on fish and seafood. It’s rooted in the Catholic tradition of fasting and abstinence from meat before Christmas Day, offering a symbolic reflection of spiritual preparation. 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 While the exact origins of the "seven" fish are debated, the number is believed to have spiritual significance, often representing the seven sacraments of the Church or the seven days of creation. It’s a celebration not just of food but also of faith and family. 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻-𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The tradition has its roots in Southern Italy, particularly in coastal regions where fresh seafood was abundant. As Italian immigrants arrived in America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they brought this tradition with them. Over time, the Feast of the Seven Fishes became a hallmark of Italian-American culture—a way to connect with heritage while celebrating the holidays with loved ones. 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 Although the number of dishes can vary (some families serve 9, 13, or even more!), the meal typically includes a variety of seafood like baccalà (salted cod), fried calamari, shrimp scampi, stuffed squid, clams oreganata, and more. Each dish is an expression of Italian culinary traditions, passed down through generations. Today, the Feast of the Seven Fishes has evolved beyond a religious tradition to become a cultural celebration for food lovers everywhere. It’s a time for families to gather, share stories, and enjoy the finest seafood the season has to offer. As you prepare for your holiday gatherings, consider how this age-old tradition could bring new meaning to your own celebrations. Whether you follow the classic seven fishes or mix it up, the Feast is a beautiful reminder of the importance of tradition, togetherness, and delicious food. Fish has been a cornerstone of holiday traditions in cultures worldwide for centuries. Whether it’s a symbol of abundance, religious observance, or simply a delicious celebratory dish, seafood plays a starring role in festive meals across the globe. 🐟The Feast of the Seven Fishes: A cherished Italian-American Christmas Eve tradition where families come together to enjoy a spread of seven different fish and seafood dishes, symbolising feasting and unity. 🐟Lutefisk in Scandinavia: It’s all about lutefisk—dried whitefish rehydrated and served alongside potatoes, peas, or bacon in Nordic countries. A long-standing Christmas tradition steeped in history and nostalgia. 🐟 Bacalhau da Consoada: In Portugal, Christmas Eve isn’t complete without their signature salt cod (bacalhau) served with potatoes and vegetables, celebrating family and the sea's bounty. Married in McDonald’s?! 😮 Weddings look very different in China these days... Young couples in China and SE Asia are reinventing wedding traditions, blending simplicity with creativity. Forget lavish banquets and elaborate rituals—today’s “three-no” weddings (no car convoy, no traditional bride pickup, no MC) are all about personalization and practicality. Unconventional venues like McDonald’s and Haidilao are trending, with couples embracing casual settings. Wedding games are replaced by carnival-style activities and scratch-off cards, while traditional alcohol toasts give way to milk tea, cola, and spicy snacks. Even dowries and cash gifts are being set aside in favor of simpler celebrations. According to reports, most engaged couples in China are aged 24-28, and average wedding costs in major cities have dropped by 10-15%, reflecting a shift toward value-focused planning. This new approach prioritizes quality over scale, with creative, budget-friendly touches adding unique charm to the big day. I'm all for the simpler ceremonies. What do you think of the shift? #China #Trends #ChineseCulture #Weddings #GenZ
