"When I find myself reminiscing about my sons when they were children, I remember that I have to make it a priority to continue to build memories together now that they are adults. Pivoting to finance is a change for me, but here’s why I did it. When considering a new career/job, I feel there are three things to consider outside of the basics- compensation, PTO, and insurance. For me, it’s impact, fulfillment, and growth opportunity. For this reason, while standing with two offers and waiting to hear back from a third company, I chose Northwestern Mutual. Historically, people of color have not been taught financial literacy, and most of us are not prepared for emergencies that may come, such as funeral expenses. I witnessed this firsthand with my family pooling money together for funerals. For me, this was a strategic move based on the impact and transformation I (and many other leaders) can have within Black and Brown communities. There are not many folks who look like me in this industry, but I promise in the coming months and years that I will do my due diligence to empower us, educate us, and move us forward financially, professionally, and personally.

📌 Organizational Performance | Leadership Development | Coaching | Workshop Facilitation | Innovation | Commercial Success | 2 Exits📌
Executive Summary - Key Learnings from Scott Galloway on Wealth, Risk, and Personal Growth Wealth Building Strategies: ♻️ Building wealth requires leaning into one's advantages, such as flexibility and time in one's 20s, to take risks and find talents with high employment rates. ♻️ Investing early, even small amounts, can significantly grow wealth over time through compound interest. Financial Discipline: ♻️ It is crucial to control spending and have the discipline to invest money rather than spending it all. ♻️ Economic security is built through consistent habits and character traits, including diversification and avoiding going all-in on risky ventures. Transparency and Financial Literacy: ♻️ Talking about money should not be taboo; discussing salaries, mortgage rates, and financial strategies can enhance financial literacy and economic security. ♻️ Transparency about financial situations and goals is encouraged to foster a better understanding and control over personal finances. Personal Experiences and Risk-Taking: ♻️ Galloway emphasizes the importance of taking uncomfortable risks, as significant achievements often come from stepping out of one's comfort zone. ♻️ His personal story of financial ups and downs highlights the importance of diversification and managing risks wisely. Role of Luck and Environment: ♻️ Luck and environmental factors, such as being born into a supportive or advantageous situation, play a significant role in financial success. ♻️ Acknowledging these factors can provide a realistic perspective. Mentorship and Networking: ♻️ Seeking advice and building a network of mentors is crucial for personal and professional growth. However, mentorship should be approached incrementally, starting with seeking advice rather than requesting a long-term commitment. ♻️ Engaging with others, asking for advice, and forming a supportive network can open up opportunities and provide valuable insights. Mindset and Resilience: ♻️ Embracing a mindset of atheism and understanding the finite nature of life can liberate individuals from the fear of rejection and encourage them to take bold steps. ♻️ Resilience, especially in the face of rejection and failure, is essential for achieving long-term success. Education and Career Advice: ♻️ Galloway advocates for credentialing and moving to super cities to maximize career opportunities. Super cities offer more economic growth and professional opportunities. ♻️ He advises young people to focus on areas with high employment rates and to be realistic about the challenges in creative fields with high unemployment rates. Family and Relationships: ♻️ Building and maintaining strong family relationships is highlighted as a key component of long-term happiness and economic stability. ♻️ Economic security allows for deeper engagement in personal relationships, contributing to overall well-being and life satisfaction. #managementdevelopment #financeeducation #personaldevelopment

Hetty Green: Wall Street’s Long-Forgotten Queen **************************************** "People who are honest nowadays are accused of being mad." HETTY GREEN **************************************** Her enemies referred to her as the witch of Wall Street, which was a moniker that could not be further from the truth. The reality was she was among the most talented investors in US history (if not the most talented). She was also modest, honest, and charitable, which was so foreign to stock operators in the lawless markets of the Gilded Age that it was mistaken for witchcraft. For those who missed the webinar, please feel free to join in. In the second half, Michelle Seitz explains how she resurrected many of Hetty Green’s virtues to drive her rapid ascent in the investment profession.
Did you know that Henrietta (Hetty) Green (1834-1916) was among the most successful investors in U.S. financial history? Hetty navigated the volatile markets and fickle monetary currents of the Gilded Age, profiting during both the peaks and troughs, while most of her male contemporaries amassed and subsequently lost their fortunes. Some called her the richest woman in America; others deemed her the Witch of Wall Street. Explore her extraordinary life with Mark Higgins, CFA, CFP®, Index Fund Advisors, Inc. and Michelle Seitz, MeydenVest Partners. Watch the session on-demand now and gain insights into the life of this iconic investor.
