🌟 Grateful for a Restorative Vacation and Supportive Workplace Culture 🌟 Just returned from an amazing 6-day vacation feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the opportunity to unwind. A huge shoutout to Nine Zero Properties for not only encouraging time off, but truly allowing me to check out and recharge without any work-related interruptions. Taking breaks isn't just about physically stepping away; it's about mentally detaching, recharging, and returning with renewed energy and creativity. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a company that values work-life balance and understands the importance of prioritizing employee well-being. During my time off, I disconnected from emails, meetings, and deadlines, allowing myself to fully immerse in relaxation and quality time with loved ones. This experience has reinforced my appreciation for a supportive workplace culture that understands the significance of downtime and trusts its employees to manage their workload effectively. Returning to work this week, I feel refreshed, motivated, and ready to dive back into projects with a renewed perspective. Thank you to my amazing colleagues for covering for me during my absence, and to Nine Zero Properties for fostering an environment where employees can truly disconnect and recharge. Here's to a productive and fulfilling week ahead! #WorkLifeBalance #EmployeeWellbeing #Gratitude #NineZeroProperties

As I return to work after an incredibly refreshing summer holiday, I've been reflecting on the importance of taking breaks to reset our minds and bodies. I'm the type of person who gets over excited about cool projects, and I can struggle to slow down. 😅 Here in Finland our culture places a strong emphasis on extended summer holidays (thank you #finland!), allowing us to completely disconnect and recharge, and that's what I did in July. Now, coming back to work, I've realized that maintaining this sense of renewal requires more than just one long holiday a year. Beyond the summer holiday, it's crucial to integrate regular breaks into our routines to maintain high levels of energy and productivity. While our work culture supports this, it's also up to each of us to ensure that we continue to prioritize our well-being throughout the year. I would love to learn how you recharge regularly. Let's share ideas and support each other in maintaining a healthy work-life balance! #WorkLifeBalance #Productivity #WellBeing #Finland #HolidayRecharge

Yesterday, I had an interview that left me reflecting on the importance of work-life balance. During the conversation, the candidate asked about our vacation policy. Before I could answer, she shared how she takes a vacation every year to visit family, but always ensures it's not around busy times like rent week or financial deadlines. I was taken aback. My first thought was, "Why wouldn’t you take time off?" We laughed about it, and I joked, "Of course, you're not allowed a life outside of work!" But the truth is, it made me a little sad that a property manager—or anyone—might feel they can’t take a well-deserved break. It’s a reminder to all of us: prioritize spending time with family, friends, and yourself. Work is important, but so is your well-being. Let’s encourage a culture where taking time off is seen as essential, not a luxury. Nxt Property Management Does a great job of reminding us to take our vacation! #WorkLifeBalance #VacationTime #EmployeeWellbeing #Leadership

Quiet vacationing, not to be confused with "Staycation", a trend where employees take time off without extensive travel or digital detox, is reshaping how we think about work-life balance. Unlike traditional vacations that focus on travel and adventure, quiet vacationing emphasizes periodic relaxation and personal rejuvenation at home or nearby. With the advent of DTO (discretionary time off) or "unlimited" or "untracked" time off in which studies show people actually take less time off, the trend is to take more time off, but do it in shorter durations, like scheduling more frequent "longer weekends". This approach allows employees to disconnect from work while maintaining a sense of normalcy and reducing the stress associated with travel. The impact on workplaces is significant. Why? Taking personal time off helps employees return to work feeling refreshed and recharged without the additional stress of travel logistics. The grind and burn-out is real. Work-life balance is now more like work-life integration. Taking the time also promotes a healthier work-life balance, as employees are able to take short, frequent breaks that prevent burnout and improve overall productivity. For employers, recognizing and supporting this trend can lead to higher job satisfaction, reduced absenteeism, and a more engaged workforce. However you choose to spend your time off, always inform your employer and your colleagues. What are your thoughts on quiet vacationing? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. #QuietVacationing #WorkLifeBalance #EmployeeWellbeing

Disconnecting from work while on vacation sounds a lot easier than it actually is. Some companies’ cultures may expect you to stay connected, respond to emails, or attend meetings to keep the business moving forward. Yet research and commentary dating back to the 1910s shows that taking vacations — as in, completely disconnecting from work — is critical to lowering burnout, increasing energy and engagement, and improving overall health and well-being, which in turn will lead to more consistent productivity. So, how do you detach from work during your vacation to achieve all these benefits? The author shares five tips to set firm boundaries in a professional way.
