Finding therapists we feel confident referring to can be really hard. Since 2020, I know many of us have reverted to using Mental Health Match, Psychology Today, or TherapyDen to find referrals. These are incredible tools and I think it’s important we also connect intentionally with the therapists we refer to. At Point of Convergence Therapy we’d like to change that pattern and open our doors to get to know other therapists in the field. Here’s our reasoning: 1. We want therapists to feel confident referring to other therapists. 2. We want to bring the field back together where we actually have accessible, reliable support from other therapists (PractiSage Therapist Collective is already strongly heading this off in Houston). 3. We love being therapists and want to connect with other therapists who care as deeply about our profession as we do! Reach out via email (aeck@mypoctherapy.com) or here 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/gqJ7nJ7t to connect!

What makes Laura Sukonick an effective therapist? Hear it from her! Hi, I’m Laura. I’m a therapist who treats people suffering with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance disorders, impulse disorders, and dependent personality disorders. I treat both individuals and families. My Style: I lead with an understanding of, and a respect for, the coping systems with which people respond to pain. I compliment my knowledge with a cynical sense of humor. My work is heavily influenced by Bowen’s Family Systems Theory and A Freud’s work on ego defense mechanisms. My Aim: • Help you gain insight into your own behavioral patterns; then help you understand the consequences of them. • Help you examine your avoidance tactics, build distress tolerance skills, and practice direct self advocacy. • Help you find language with which to authentically express your experiences. My Qualifications: • 10 years experience practicing. • Obtained my masters in social work from Bryn Mawr College’s Grad School of Social Research and Services.

At the Institute for Relational Well-being (IRWB), we recognize that therapist-client compatibility is an important factor in successful therapeutic outcomes. Our approach to matching clients with therapists goes beyond credentials, focusing on creating genuine connections based on trust and understanding. Our team of licensed therapists and therapist trainees brings diverse specialties, approaches, and life experiences to their practice. This diversity allows us to effectively match clients with professionals who align with their goals, communication styles, and cultural backgrounds. We've found that this personalized matching process significantly enhances the therapeutic experience, whether clients are seeking support for personal growth, relationship challenges, or navigating difficult life transitions. By prioritizing therapist-client compatibility, we're working to improve therapeutic outcomes and client satisfaction. We believe this approach not only benefits individual clients but also contributes to the overall effectiveness of mental health services in our community. Therapy, like medicine or law, is a professional practice demanding years of rigorous training, education, and continuous development. Just as you wouldn't ask a doctor to provide free services, it's essential to recognize that therapists invest significant time, effort, and resources to offer effective and compassionate care. In developing countries, particularly, the field of psychology often lacks proper policies and regulatory systems, contributing to its undervaluation. This can hinder the recognition and support of mental health professionals. While I offer sliding scale fees for students and those in need, it's crucial to respect therapy as a professional service that requires fair compensation to maintain high-quality care. Let's continue raising awareness about the value of mental health services and advocating for fair treatment and respect for all professionals in the field. #Therapy #MentalHealth

As a practice manager, I’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of therapy for individuals from all walks of life. "Let Them Therapy" is a concept that resonates deeply: to normalize and promote the benefits of psychological support. From a managerial perspective, therapy is more than just a series of sessions—it’s a collaborative process that empowers individuals to better understand themselves, manage stress, and enhance their overall quality of life. Therapy provides a structured, confidential space where clients can work through their challenges with the guidance of skilled professionals. In our clinic, we strive to make therapy accessible and welcoming. We want people to see it not as something reserved for times of crisis but as a valuable tool for personal development and emotional well-being. "Let Them Therapy" reflects our commitment to reducing the stigma associated with mental health care and encouraging people to view therapy as a positive, proactive choice. We believe that everyone can benefit from the insights and strategies that therapy offers. Whether you're seeking help for specific issues or simply looking to enhance your emotional resilience, therapy can be a powerful ally. "Let Them Therapy" is our way of advocating for a culture where seeking support is seen as a strength and a natural part of maintaining a healthy, balanced life.

I'm starting this post to say I think we are doing a good job of creating resources for people within our community who are nearing or at crisis. We are building culturally competent counselling practices, outpatient resources, partial inpatient, inpatient for detox/substance abuse, inpatient for mental health challenges, aftercare plans, work with EMDR, Brain Spotting/Mapping, Neuro Feedback, and even research into ketamine. But what about upstream approaches?? What about preventing the trauma and lived experiences every day from turning into crisis mode???? Wait, you say...what about resilience training...coping strategies...sleep hygiene, physical wellness, and relaxing techniques...YES!!! We are on to something... HOWEVER, we are HUMAN...and while we can KNOW something is best for us, or can help us improve, we still aren't doing it! Ever wonder why...??? Why is it that we KNOW what we "should" or "could" be doing....but just aren't doing it?? The answer...we haven't checked the map! Yup...that simple. We haven't taken a moment to identify and evaluate where we are. How do we know where we need to go if we don't know where we are? Let's check the map together!!

The most effective supervision is the kind that truly understands one's goals and challenges. I am glad that you are highlighting these key points. For individuals looking for tailored supervision in the therapy space, check out this post by Kapil Kataria, consultant clinical psychologist and psychotherapist.
Supervision is an important aspect of a therapist's practice. It helps in providing ethical, effective, and boundaried therapeutic care. It provides a space for the therapist to grow their practice by learning new skills. The skills incorporated in supervision are nurturing therapeutic relationship, developing a collaborative case conceptualization, liaising with other mental health professionals, therapeutic techniques, and setting limitations/boundaries in practice. I have witnessed immense benefits from supervision in my practice. My supervisors have strived to tailor the supervision to fit my needs and it has helped me grow as a mental health professional. If you'd like to know more about me. https://lnkd.in/dA_WP283 I am opening up supervision slots for beginning therapists. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you're looking for supervision. We can talk more about the details over email or a phone call. Email ID: kapilkataria.cp@gmail.com Phone number: 9019594278
