This may seem like a boring topic, but it is crucial! 💥 Look at your communication set-up to save time, money and decrease frustrations. If you work virtually, how the team and organization use the communication tools is fundamental. This podcast gives valuable advice. 👇 First an interview with Paul Leonardi, who shared shocking statistics of inefficiencies that we all recognize: - People spend 84 minutes a day looking for information they need. - 30 minutes a day deciding which tools to use for a specific task. - An hour a day switching between different tools. According to Paul, we have an overabundance of digital tools at the workplace. Too much choice is demotivating. Companies should create a guideline on which tools to use for which task. --- Sandra Ma (at 28.00 min) provides an actual example of how a company improved the use of digital collaboration tools. They were intentional about their communications and agreed a task-technology fit with these specific agreements: - Use slack for quick exchanges, non-urgent questions and status update. Not the source of truth for anything important. - Email for important communications to the broader team, sent at the end of the week. - Video meetings for problem solving and complex topics. - A spreadsheet as the single source of truth, all information about project is there, list all the owners and roles and responsibilities. They could all trust that all the latest information is in the one source. 📈 Result: time savings, money savings, more efficiency, elimination of confusion.
