[ENG] I’ve seen many posts celebrating yesterday’s announcement of the Olympic Esports Games (OEG). Setting the hype aside, we must also discuss this event with a critical eye: 🥇 Esports or Virtual Sports? Let's remember that the International Olympic Committee – IOC has maintained a policy that only allows games aligning with their values, primarily using sports simulators. There have been exceptions, such as the Dota 2 competition in the 2023 Pan-American Games, or the Street Fighter exhibition and the use of Fortnite for shooting in the 2023 Olympic Esports Series. The main question here is whether the OEG will include the major esports titles on which the industry has been built, or focus only on sports simulators. 🥈 National Federations and Digital Adaptation: Some federations, particularly those from smaller, under-resourced countries, may struggle with handling the competitive scene of the digital version of their discipline due to a lack of expertise in esports. It will be crucial for these federations to collaborate with organisations and professionals who have more experience in this field. 🥉 Possibly the main benefit of the OEG is the potential to improve the relationship between the esports industry and government bodies. Many countries still lack visas or grants for pro players, as they are not recognised as professional athletes. Giving esports Olympic recognition may change this scenario. In that case, will these benefits be equally applicable to all esports professionals, or only to those participating in games approved by the IOC? (Versión en Español en los comentarios)

ESPORTS = PC SUPERIOR PLATFORM 🖱 👑 If you ask to an EU W Esports fan this is probably what he gonna says : ESPORTS is a PC thing, period ! Glad to see that the Esports World Cup is having a global vision of the ecosystem and thinks about all regions and all the fans accross the globe. For instance these are the 5 first games that have been announced for the biggest event of the year in Riyadh this summer the #EWC : - 💣Counter Strike 2 - ⚔️Mobile Legends - 🧙Dota 2 - 👾StarCraft II - 👑Honor of Kings 2 out of 5 are mobile esports titles and this is something we need to understand. Indeed, the genesis of esports mostly came from PC games (and some console games especially for the N/A market), but the future of our ecosystem cannot be shaped without mobiles games. Billions of people are owning a smartphone which makes the growth potential of our industry nearly "unlimited". Thanks to that new sponsors will come, the number of neophytes will expand on a daily basis and our viewership is going to beat more and more major sports. As a EU W esports fan in his thirties, Esports will always remain in my heart a PC thing for me, but as true passionate about this ecosystem and as a Partnership Manager in this industry, I'm more than happy to extend my knowledge of this sector to new games and to watch these competitions with the same fervor as I have for my favourite games such as CS, Valorant, R6....etc What are your thoughts on mobile esports games and what games do you want to see at the Esports World Cup?
